Proof positive:
Roy Blunt Defeats Robin Carnahan In Missouri Senate Race
He's as dirty a politician as you can find, he's up to his eyeballs in special interest, corporate money, he's been in Washington for years--WAY too long--but the voters of Missouri just foisted him up as Senator of our State.
Y'all are stupid.
Sorry. I gotta' call 'em as I see 'em and this one I'm going to call.
That said, I'd like to thank Robin Carnahan for working as hard as she did in order to derail Mr. Blunt's senatorial plans. It was a valiant effort. In part, you just didn't have enough corporate money behind you, Ms. Carnahan, I'm sure.

I hate Blunt, but I voted for him. Why? Because I'm on Medicare and I don't like what's happening in Washington. I love Ike Skelton, but I voted him down. Why? Because nobody should be able to stay in office that long. I want term limits.
However, if Sarah Palin runs for president? I'm turning Democrat.
Okay, thanks for input.
I don't understand what you think Robin Carnahan was going to do to Medicare, for one.
And Roy's both been in there for years and he's so clearly dirty with big money.
As for Ike Skelton, I wrote, earlier, that an 80-year-old, 17-term Congressman was probably due to go. That said, I couldn't vote for Ms. Hartzler. She seemed wrong on too many issues. That shouldn't be a surprise since she's a pretty hard-core Republican and I'm a hard-core Liberal Democrat.
Still, the way these two races turned out surprised me, if even by these slim margins.
Who knows? Maybe they're so close there are still surprises ahead of us but it looks as though these are the results. If so, we have to live with them.
I miss when this was a solidly Democratic state.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I would like to point out something that I've observed among the "Rally for Sanity" crowd.
That is, a couple of posts ago you linked to a Jon Stewart speech and then closed out with "Can't we all just get along?"
And now, you say an entire state is "dumber than catbox litter" because you disagree with them. Is this the reasoned and respectful debate you were hoping for?
Okay, fair question, emawkc, but slow down.
First, you're right--I have said repeatedly "can't we all just get along" and I will continue to say it. We need to work together as Americans, that's the long and short of it.
And now that Roy Blunt has been elected Senator for Missouri, we'll have to do just that, me included.
But understand two things. First, Roy Blunt is "old Washington" and I don't think you can deny that. He is, without doubt, a long time "Washington insider" of the first and worst degree. He has been part of our problems and I don't think you can or would deny that.
Second, about Roy, he's dirty. And by dirty I mean he's owned by the corporations and wealthy. He's not for you or me, emawkc, unless you're loaded and/or part of a big, also-loaded corporation, replete with money. This, too, I don't think you can or would deny.
The Democrats and Tea Party members both came to the conclusion that Roy isn't the man for the job, at least in part for these reasons, above.
Now, you know the Dems are going to be against him but the Tea Party was, rightly, against him for these same reasons, which, I thnk, strengthens, if not verifies, my point.
I usually tiptoe around subjects and write very carefully here so as to be fair and accurate. But last night, when I found out that, as suspected--as feared--Roy won, I had to just be blunt (no pun intended), ugly and honest, so there you are.
My point is still and always will be that we need to be Americans first and last and that we need to work together, make no mistake.
But Roy Blunt being elected Senator for the state of Missouri wasn't, as I said above, good for the "little guy" in this state, emawkc, and I wanted to put that out there, at least this once.
I didn't say anything in that column merely because I disagreed with the voters. I said it because Roy Blunt isn't the man who should be in the office. And understand, this has nothing to do with Robin Carnahan, either. This vote, to me, was like the Presidential election in 2000 and 2004. That is, this election, to me was "Anybody but Roy", because of the way he is and because of who he works and votes for--again, the wealthy and corporations.
Now, all that said, let's all work together.
