BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Don't! Stop! You're killing me!
Man, that's good.
Seriously, that was the funniest thing I've seen all week.
Thanks, Tony, for pointing this out to us. That's rich.
This, I think, could be the solution to the co-mayor's problems, once they're not returned to office next Spring.
Think about it. It's a natural--comedy! They can do stand-up.
If they can continue to write stuff this good, they'll make millions.
Enjoy your Sunday, y'all.

I miss reading Tony. He's often first with the big news. Unfortunately, I don't appreciate the half-naked women he insists on using on almost every post. It's unnecessary and degrading. I notice Fox 4 is quoting him often.
It's the only thing I have ever taken him to task over. Sadly, he just doesn't get it and he won't quit with the "scantily-clad moon maidens."
What kills me is that he wants to be taken seriously, yet he puts those up.
Kind of tragic.
Mayor Funkhouser was quoted today as saying his city didn't need to get into the hotel business. I hope every KC resident appreciates the common sense and courage that it took to state the obvious.
Why would KC (or any town) want to focus on tourism and conventions? Why would you say to the children of the city "We're gonna provide you with lots of jobs: you could grow up to be a bartender, or a chambermaid, or a blackjack dealer, or a cab driver, or a valet, or a front desk clerk , or a bell boy, or a waitress, or a dishwasher, or lots of other wonderful careers in the convention industry."
Why wouldnt a city set high goals for it's kids and produce a work force with skills and IQ in the upper tier, and bring in jobs that pay well and reward kids who have studied hard in school?
To be clear, I think a convention hotel in downtown Kansas City is a good idea, don't get me wrong. I just think it seems clear, too, we can't afford it right now.
I am not simply against anything the Funkhousers are for, let me put that up front.
Again, clearly, all cities, states and nations should set their goals and sites high for their children, so they can excel and achieve. I don't know what that has to do with the Mayor(s), unless you're rahter obliquely referring to his/their rather lame "schools first" program, which was designed to pave streets and make good sidewalks around schools, in an effort to "improve" those schools. But understand, that's not a question and I don't need claification.

And that's the point.
Why should 'we' have to pay for a downtown hotel?
It's a private business, they should pay for it themselves. I am not in favor of corporate welfare.
I'm all for lower taxes, but it should apply to everybody or every business. We shouldn't write special tax breaks that favor a 'new' business over existing businesses that are in competition with them.
