Happy Easter?

In most countries in Europe, the name for Easter is derived from the Jewish festival of Passover. "So in Greek the feast is called Pascha, in Italian Pasqua, in Danish it is Paaske, and in French it is Paques," Professor Cusack said.
But in English-speaking countries, and in Germany, Easter takes its name from a pagan goddess from Anglo-Saxon England who was described in a book by the eighth-century English monk Bede. "Eostre was a goddess of spring or renewal and that's why her feast is attached to the vernal equinox," Professor Cusack said. So sure. Happy Easter. Or whatever trips your trigger. Or floats your boat. Have a nice day.

Happy Father's Day

If you still have your father, your Dad, I hope you've told him you love him.

I hope, for both your sakes, you can.

And happy Father's Day out there, to all the Dads.

Kansas City: "NO BLUE SKIES FOR YOU!"

Gray.

Gray as far as you can see.

Gray above. Gray yesterday, gray tomorrow, gray the day after that and the next week.

Sure, we've needed the rain and it's welcome, certainly. We all recognize that. And we have to have it.

But occasionally, can't we have some direct sunlight?

Some blue skies?

Please?

Memorial Day, a reminder

Val: Why do you go out there?
Sandra:  Because dead people give such good advice.
Val: What advice do they give?
Sandra: Just one word- live!”

Snow. In May. In Kansas City

Omgosh ... We just have to stay happy about this ... Maxine is my hero :)

From photographer/friend Roy Inman :

Last time it snowed in Kansas City in May was on the 3rd in 1907. Union Station was completed in 1914, same year that WWI started. We are talking history-making stuff here folks.

This is March?

More to the point, THIS IS STILL WINTER? I saw another forecast, from another one of the local news stations tonight and they called for 72 degrees and above for the entire upcoming week. We usually don't get that, I don't think, until May, for pity's sake. Yikes. This is wonderfully mild. Have a great weekend, y'all.

Don't forget, tomorrow night!

How warm it is--and has been

This is how warm it was yesterday and how obviously warm it's been lately, as we all know: Last evening, as I was driving home out in the country, I realized bugs--BUGS, mind you--were flying past my windshield as though it were, I don't know, at least May. I tell you, this is pretty crazy. March 7 and bugs flying toward my car and windshield. Yikes. It's still very officially Winter, for pity's sake!

How about that sunshine yesterday afternoon?

I may be all wet on this but I don't think so.  It just seems as though there's been a great deal of cloudy weather and days and not that much sun.  So yesterday, when the sun did break out, all of a sudden about what? 5 o'clock, it seems like the whole world opened up.  It seemed like it gave a rush of energy to everything and everyone.
As it happened, as the sun broke out, I was meeting friends for dinner.  I looked across the place and saw this great sun and shade and started snapping pictures.  I liked how a few, at least, turned out, including this one, of course.
So with that, here's your sunshine for today.  It looks like we aren't to get any more now for a few days, too.  If you need it, come back here (or go to my other blog KC Photog Blog.  I'll have more there, too).

Enjoy your Sunday, ya'll.
