Well knock me over with a feather.
Check it out--Kansas City is, as said above, number 10 on Forbes Magazine's list of "Where Americans Are Getting Richer".
Go figure.
Mind you, it's not you and me but, hey, at least we're on the list.
Some of the stats for us:
Median Pay, 2007: $51,500
Median Pay, 2010: $55,000
Median Pay Trend: 6.9%
Unemployment Rate: 8.6%
What's funny though, is that they list us as "Kansas City, Miss." Ain't dat a hoot?
Look, it makes sense. If you've got a good job here that's high-paying (think health care, computers, etc.), housing is, by comparison to many, many more cities in the country, far more affordable here than elsewhere. Then, too, you shouldn't have to commute that far for work and taxes aren't as crazy-high here as they are in other states.
So good on us, Kansas City.
Now, I just need to go out and get one of those high paying jobs.
