Huge, Fantastic Presidential News Breaking This Morning!!

Post image

It's yet another tough, tough day for the Trumpster today, campers. Check out this incredible, breaking news from just this morning

Federal prosecutors say Bannon and three associates illegally funneled money from the “We Build The Wall” fund

Truly incredible. And wonderful.

Not done there, yet more good---no, great news.

NEW YORK — President Trump’s latest attempt to block the Manhattan district attorney from obtaining his tax records was rejected by a federal judge Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero threw out the latest lawsuit brought by Trump’s lawyers which had argued that a subpoena to Mazars USA, Trump’s accounting firm, was “overbroad” in its request for documents and that it amounted to “harassment.” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. argued repeatedly that the subpoena, issued by a grand jury, was legally valid and tied to a legitimate criminal investigation.

And then one last breaking story today.

The case was initially dismissed due to its similarity to the federal charges

The Manhattan District Attorney's office fought Thursday to reinstate the indictment against President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, according to court documents filed in the case.

Manafort had been charged in New York for allegedly conducting a yearlong residential mortgage fraud scheme before the case was dismissed in December due to its similarity to earlier federal charges.

The Manhattan DA's office argued, according to court filings, that the state's double jeopardy law contains an exception that would allow the case to proceed.

Isn't it a beautiful day, ladies and gentlemen?

So. herewith, a summary of this Trump, very Republican Party administration so far, to date:
  • Rick Gates: Convicted
  • Paul Manafort: Convicted
  • George Papadopoulos: Convicted
  • Mike Flynn: Convicted
  • Michael Cohen: Convicted
  • Roger Stone: Convicted
  • Steve Bannon: Arrested, charged with fraud
  • Donald Trump: Impeached
"Only the best people..."

"So much winning..."

Thanks, Mr. President!

Thanks, Republicans!

I Ask You, Which Is It With Trump?

Related image

So with all of Donald Trump's ignorance and kow-towing to Russia and Vladimir Putin and overtures to him and them while attacking our allies, what is it? Is it that--

--Vladimir Putin and Russia are all blackmailing him because he owes them all too much money or

--there really is some "pee tape", ugh, or

--he actually is really just this stupid?

Which is it, exactly?

This Actually, Literally Frightening Republican President Donald J Trump and His Administration

Image result for crazy donald trump

There is so much wrong with and from this President Trump, it's honestly difficult to assess. That's  partly because he says and does so many contradicting things and then partly because there are so many ramifications, here and across the world, from, again, what he says and does. Here are some examples from this past week alone.

He's not even for supporting our laws, due process and the legal system.

One more example of him saying one thing...

And then, days later, if not sooner, changing his mind and position, entirely.

There is not only what he says and then contradicts, entirely, there is also the gross, gross incompetence for what he isn't doing and what he doesn't do.

And then there's the corruption. You can't forget the corruption. Some of it is from within the White House.

Regulator Seeks Kushner Loan Details From Deutsche Bank

Some of it is outside the White House.

Not done there, there's this.

According to Fact Checker and the Washington Post, so far in his Presidency, in 406 days, Trump made 2,436 false or misleading statements.

President Trump has made 2,436 false

or misleading claims so far

Additionally, in 408 days, as of today,  he has spent 100 of those days on a Trump golf course.

If you aren't at least concerned, folks, you aren't paying attention.

Missouri Makes a Very Dark List

Wow.

Missouri not only made the top, worst 10 on a new survey of the 50 states in America, it actually made the top, worst 5.

America's 10 worst states to live in 2017

- CNBC.com

"These are the 10 worst states in the US for quality of life, including crime, health, social tolerance and the environment."

So check out what they say about our own Show Me state:

5. MISSOURI

Show Me how to stay safe in Missouri, where violent crime in all categories has been rising, in some cases by double digits. Missouri also lacks statewide protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation, marital status, and gender identity. And the state is near the bottom for public health funding.

2017 Quality of Life score: 99 out of 300 points
Weaknesses: Crime rate, health, inclusiveness
Strength: Attractions
2016 Quality of Life rank: No. 49

Note that last statistic, too.  2016 Quality of Life rank:  49.  Out of 50, of course. Only one state worse than us, whoever that is.

Even on this list, we're worse than Mississippi, for God's sake.

WORSE THAN MISSISSIPPI.

Let that sink in.

I know I personally take no comfort whatever in learning that neighbor state to the South, Arkansas, is ranked 4th worst or that, again, neighbor state Oklahoma is ranked number 3.

We should no way be on this list. This is horrible.

We must do better. We have to.

And we start by getting Republicans out of public office.

Let's get started.

What a Trump Presidency Begets

We warned about this guy, this Trump. We said he didn't have the temperament or experience for the job and he's already proven he wasn't up for it. He even said it was harder than he thought. So now, today? What's happening? What do we get?

Asian markets mostly down as dollar

continues to fall

That's all bad enough. Now for our own markets. This just broke.

How long until our own markets are hit, and drop, given the uncertainty and unpredictability that is Donald Trump and now, his Presidency?

Again, even Republicans themselves warned about Donald Trump as President.

It's as I wrote earlier.

How long, America?

How long are we going to put up with this boob of a President? You deserve better than this, America. We all deserve better than this. Much better than this. We need better than this. We need logic and calm and thoughtfulness and deliberation and all the things that go with maturity and experience and familiarity with national and international politics and history and all the rest.

How long, America?

What Should Happen With the Mission Mall Site

Here it is as it stands right this moment. Still. It is still and it is still basically an ugly lot.

What should happen with it?

What should happen with this now-eyesore is that it should be given up, sold, I suppose, to the city for some reasonable fee and made into a park. It should be made into a city park. It would be a fantastic entrance into the small city, and it would enhance the entire area around it.

What should have happened, years ago, is that the mall should never have been torn down and leveled into the, again, eyesore it is now and has become and that it has been for some time. Even without hindsight it should have been known it shouldn't have been leveled and wasted. It needed upgrading, improving, but it fit the site, it was not ugly, it wasn't an ugly mall, it wasn't run that run down and vacated.

No doubt the developer got greedy. He no doubt thought this would somehow be a great idea and make him loads more money.

Man, was he wrong.

Sure, the 2008 financial collapse brought this mess on, too, but the whole notion of leveling a functional and again, not completely unattractive shopping center just so someone could, hopefully, make boodles more money was short-sighted and just downright greedy.

Now?

Now Walmart has backed out of the plans to locate in what the developer thought was going to be an upcoming, new center. Good luck finding another large tenant now. I feel certain there are and were plenty, plenty of Mission residents who didn't want the Walmart/Roeland Park customers coming down the hill to this site, anyway.

Another point, have you seen the latest reports on retail this week? Where retail is headed, it seems clear?

Retail collapse: The 23 biggest chains

closing stores this year

Heck, even Walmart is hurting.

And here's why.

So yes, this is what should happen. Turn it over. Make it into a park. They could even call it Mission  Gateway Park.

It won't but that's what should happen.

Notes On a Press Conference

donald trump press conference

So much to say about yesterday's first press conference and first in 167 days, from the new President-elect.

The first thing that occurs to me today, after yesterday's press conference from Mr. Trump is that it is going to be an extremely casual 4 years, beginning January 20, if he stays for the entire term, that is. If you read a transcript of the conference or see videotape of it, he uses a lot of "gonna" and "lemme" and at one point, even said "crap."  I tell you, folks, this is "a man of the people." Sure, he was given one million dollars once, by and from his father but he's a man of the people.

Second thing that occurs to me after yesterday is that clearly, we, we Americans, you and I, the US, owe Mr. Trump a lot. And I mean A LOT. Check this out:

Over the weekend, I was offered $2 billion to do a deal in Dubai with a very, very, very amazing man, a great, great developer from the Middle East, Hussein Damack, a friend of mine, great guy. And I was offered $2 billion to do a deal in Dubai — a number of deals and I turned it down.

I didn’t have to turn it down, because as you know, I have a no-conflict situation because I’m president, which is — I didn’t know about that until about three months ago, but it’s a nice thing to have.

He turned down A 2 BILLION DOLLAR DEAL just to be our President. So yeah, clearly we owe Mr. Trump. Already. At least in his opinion. And he's not even in office yet.

This next, third point made me nearly angry. Here's what Mr. Trump said:

I have a no conflict of interest provision as president. It was many, many years old, this is for presidents. Because they don’t want presidents getting — I understand they don’t want presidents getting tangled up in minutia; they want a president to run the country.

Wait. Wait right there.

It isn't that we Americans "...don't want presidents getting tangled up in minutia.." Not at all. It's that WE DON'T WANT OUR PRESIDENTS TO BE BOUGHT. We don't want them to be influenced by a money deal or by any billionaires across the planet who would want their buddy, the President, to do them a favor. We'd like very much to not be a banana republic, so to speak.

What's scary about this is that HE DOESN'T GET THAT

He then goes on to say:

I don’t like the way that looks, but I would be able to do that if I wanted to. I would be the only one to be able to do that. You can’t do that in any other capacity. But as president, I could run the Trump organization, great, great company, and I could run the company — the country. I’d do a very good job, but I don’t want to do that.

He only thinks we don't want him "getting tangled up in minutia."  Oh, hell, no. Everything, we know, with this guy, from his childhood, is about money. From birth to now, at his age of 70 years, has always been about money. Having lived a life like that, who thinks he wouldn't or couldn't be bought?

Next note and this is important. Mr. Trump still thinks no one out here in the nation cares about or wants to see his tax returns.

You know, the only one that cares about my tax returns are the reporters, OK? They’re the only who ask.

Well, he's not just wrong on this point but very much so. We'd like to know a few things about him and his tax returns:

--We'd like to know he paid taxes
--We'd like to know he paid a reasonably fair share of taxes
--We'd like to know he's not in debt--deeply or otherwise--to even one, let along many people or organizations or, heaven forbid, governments in and of other nations

He goes on to admit he's got lots of foreign interests:

...my company is much bigger, much more powerful than they ever thought. We’re in many, many countries, and I’m very proud of it.
And that's just for starters. So yes, Mr. President-elect, we'd very, very much like to see your tax returns and know what's in them. You said you'd release them if you became president, anyway, not that truth or commitments mean anything to you.

He then brought out an attorney, one Sheri Dillon, to explain how Mr. Trump is going to handle business in the next four years and how he's not actually going to put all that business in a true "blind trust" while he serves as president because, hey, screw you, America. This is Donald Trump.  She also went on to defend Mr. Trump's keeping his hotels while serving in the White House. Or Trump Tower, he hasn't said completely yet where he'll be operating from. The White House is so dowdy, you know?

He seemed to knock BBC news. A reporter from the BBC introduced himself for a question and this was Mr. Trump's response:

BBC news. That’s another beauty.

The BBC? You knock the BBC?

He was asked what he'd do to reform the media. He said he'd recommend people that "that have some moral compass."

Really. That's rich. (no pun intended).

In fairness, not all of the press conference was bad. It seems Mr. Trump is speaking out for the people and against his own political party on at least one subject and that is on our nation's ability to negotiate lower drug costs from the pharmaceutical companies. Here's a bit of what he said:

We’ve got to get our drug industry back. Our drug industry has been disastrous. They’re leaving left and right. They supply our drugs, but they don’t make them here, to a large extent. And the other thing we have to do is create new bidding procedures for the drug industry because they’re getting away with murder.

Pharma, pharma has a lot of lobbies and a lot of lobbyists and a lot of power and there’s very little bidding on drugs. We’re the largest buyer of drugs in the world and yet we don’t bid properly and we’re going to start bidding and we’re going to save billions of dollars over a period of time.

Of course, he and the Republicans want to do away with the Affordable Care Act, the ACA, "Obamacare" and have no replacement for it or replacement plan but at least Mr. Trump has this one issue correct for us. It pales, in comparison, to doing away with Obamacare, but at least he has this right.

Final note:  In the next four years, if Mr. Trump lasts that long as President (shudder), get used to hearing the following words out of the White House. Oh, and out of New York City, apparently:

"..the best..."
disastrous
fantastic
great, greatest
gonna'
disgrace (and this will be used both by the President, in that time frame, as well as by others, describing him)
phony
crap
Putin, Vladimir Putin, Mr. Putin, President Putin
totally (sometimes I think I'm listening to an 80's or 90's "valley girl)
horrible (again, this will be used both by and about the President)
yeah (only used by the President)
The entire phrase: "Give me a break" (this will be used by both the President and teenagers, exclusively)
"Lemme" (as a substitute for "let me." Again, only used by the President)
brilliant
phenomenal
terrific
outstanding

We are in for a rough, rough four years, ladies and gentlemen. God and the heavens help us.

America, You're In a Bad Relationship. And You're Being Abused

Yes, America, Americans, we seem to be co-dependent just now. We seem to be drawn to a person, a man who is decidedly not good for us.  And he really is abusing us.

Image result for sick trump

Donald Trump and his past, his recorded past, on audiotape and video, both, have shown him to be, once again, sexist, misogynist, racist and a whole array of ugly, negative aspects. These are his traits, this is his character.

Yet, here we are and he's still, still one of the two top candidates for the highest government office in the nation and the most powerful position in the entire world.

Things he's said and done so far, in the last 2 years, no one could have ever gotten away with. He just keeps plodding along, going forward.  People are still behind him, however dwindling but there they still are.

At one point, we all know he famously said he "...could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters."

We all laughed, at the time, and just thought him crazy but now, honestly, there seems to be more than a little bit of truth to it.

Has Ever Said

An Abbreviated List of Every Bonkers Thing

Donald Trump Has Done

This one came out last May, for pity's sake.

7 Disqualifying Things Donald Trump

Has Done in the Past 48 Hours

Yet, with all that, with all we've seen and heard from Mr. Trump, he's still in the race and we're still in this relationship.

Donald Trump is not who we should be. He's not "the better angels of our nature" and far from it. Quite the opposite is true, it seems clear.

So how can we get out of this ugly, abusive relationship?

Can we text him it's over?

Corporate America, Running Amuck

If you've been paying attention at all to the news lately, especially about corporations and what they're doing and doing to us Americans, it's likely you've been disheartened. I know I have been. And I don't even have high expectations of them.

First there was this, from AT&T, last October, putting unfounded charges on their customers bills:

AT&T Fined $105 Million by FTC for 'Cramming' Charges

Then there was this, a few weeks ago, again from and about AT&T and the way they supply internet service:

AT&T Fined $100M for Throttling 'Unlimited Data'

It seems AT&T said if you got internet from them, you'd have "unlimited data." Trouble was, they didn't bother to tell those same customers that when they got to a certain level of data usage, their internet speed would slow. Nice, huh?

Then there was this, yesterday, from Google, also on computers:

Google Secretly Spying On Computer Users

Then there was this from Whole Foods last year:

Whole Foods Will Pay $800,000 for Price-Gouging

Finally, not to be done there, this came out yesterday, too:

So for anyone, anyone who thinks we can or should do with little or no government, when corporations and the wealthy can do these kinds of things to us, I say they must be crazy.

Or they're part of these corporations and doing these very same things to us all.

Health care in America

It's not about you. It's not about me. It's not about people.

For the businesses, the corporations, the insurance companies,

it's about the money.

We know that.

Now tell me how much we don't need the Affordable Care Act.

Yeah, Obamacare.

Senator Blunt clearly very wrong about Americans, our opinions and even his own party

Senator Roy Blunt's Facebook page today said the following:

Most Americans oppose the Senate Democrats' proposal to raise the debt limit without implementing real spending reforms. I agree. The federal debt stands at almost $17 trillion today. Washington needs to get serious about reining in out-of-control spending.

Well, yeah, except a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll this week showed completely, totally and utterly the opposite of the Senator's contention:

And let's keep in mind, the Wall Street Journal is solidly pro-business and Right Wing leaning owned, as it is, by Rupert Murdoch so it shouldn't be claimed this is some wacko, Left Wing media nonsense.

The evidence is overwhelming.

Americans blame the Republicans for the federal government shutdown and rightly so, and Americans want our government up and working, running again and we also patently don't want our nation to go in default on our debt we already owe.

Another thing.  Lest Republicans should try to contend that they haven't supported these debt ceiling increases in the past:

Finally, where, exactly, is the debt right now anyway?

Dropping??

The debt is actually dropping?

Under this president?

Huh.

Imagine that.

Maybe we shouldn't have this shutdown and a possible default on our debt after all.

More here:

What "news" in America has become

From the article

The Day That TV News Died

by Chris Hedges:

It is what these news celebrities do not mention that exposes their complicity with corporate power. They do not speak about Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act, a provision that allows the government to use the military to hold U.S. citizens and strip them of due process. They do not decry the trashing of our most basic civil liberties, allowing acts such as warrantless wiretapping and executive orders for the assassination of U.S. citizens. They do not devote significant time to climate scientists to explain the crisis that is enveloping our planet. They do not confront the reckless assault of the fossil fuel industry on the ecosystem. They very rarely produce long-form documentaries or news reports on our urban and rural poor, who have been rendered invisible, or on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or on corporate corruption on Wall Street. That is not why they are paid. They are paid to stymie meaningful debate. They are paid to discredit or ignore the nation’s most astute critics of corporatism, among them Cornel West, Medea Benjamin, Ralph Nader and Noam Chomsky. They are paid to chatter mindlessly, hour after hour, filling our heads with the theater of the absurd. They play clips of their television rivals ridiculing them and ridicule their rivals in return. Television news looks as if it was lifted from Rudyard Kipling’s portrait of the Bandar-log monkeys in “The Jungle Book.” The Bandar-log, considered insane by the other animals in the jungle because of their complete self-absorption, lack of discipline and outsized vanity, chant in unison: “We are great. We are free. We are wonderful. We are the most wonderful people in all the jungle! We all say so, and so it must be true.”

Great advice today out of Columbia, MO for someone in the country

From the news today on what is likely, today, the biggest story in the office, coast to coast:

Big winners share lessons, risks of Powerball win

Link: http://news.yahoo.com/big-winners-share-lessons-risks-powerball-win-081059542.html

I heard this afternoon that the lottery says 133,000 tickets are being sold nationally every minute.

Here's hoping someone or some group wins this tonight so it doesn't get any bigger.

The bigger it gets, the more likely it is to screw someone up, big time.

Good luck to the buyers of tickets out there.
