News About the Trumpster Just Keeps Getting Better
It was bad enough he was ever, ever in government office, let alone the highest office in the land but now that he's out---THANK GOD AND GOODNESS--the news just does seem to keep getting better and better about this old orange buffoon.
Of course, we'll be starting an impeachment, his 2nd, God love him, on February 9, little over a week from now--JUST AFTER THE CHIEFS WIN THE SUPER BOWL--and of course, his, Trump's 5 lawyers all quit on him about one week before this trial is to start because they wouldn't testify falsely in court that he won the election.
The state of New York is still, still going after him about his taxes, God love 'em, and in 2 different cases, I believe. Also, he had to turn over yet more tax documents it was ruled by and in a court last week.
And now this.

This Maddening, Possibly Frightening President Now
This so sorry excuse for a President and "leader" is still, still, to this day, pushing to ignore our election, deny that election, ignore our vote and votes and subvert our Democracy.
Even Fox's own deeply Right Wing loony Tucker Carlson says Trump and his legal team have no evidence of election fraud.
Worse, once again it looks as though people in this administration are actually harming or trying to harm the nation, too, one way or another, no exaggeration.
Check that out. Rebuked by someone, another department, in their own same administration. It's insane. We've never experienced anything like this in our nation I don't believe.
Here's another example of what leadership looks like to this man, this President, this Donald J Trump.

Is it any wonder Trump expressed dislike for New York in the last month or two? They're examining his taxes--for fraud--on at least two different levels. I believe this is the third.
Fortunately, at least a few Republicans are speaking up about this President and his tactics.
Retiring GOP Sen. Alexander said Trump should provide the Biden team with all resources necessary for a smooth transition.

I frankly thought Senator Ernst would lay low and keep quiet on this. I'm pleased to see she's doing the right thing here on this.

And this is the status just now, fortunately. Not that reality means anything to this Orange Man or his supporters, sadly, tragically.

To which I answer, no, no we can't restore the rule of law without prosecuting Trump. Further, and just as importantly, at least, we need to make certain no one and nothing like Donald Trump happens again here, too. Donald Trump's crimes have been too numerous and they have been too grievous, too, both.
And again I say, because it's deserved, too, still, still we are leaderless in this the most killing, deadly international pandemic in the last more than 100 years.
Still, still no leadership from this man Trump, our supposed leader, our President on this pandemic, in any way.
The time has more than come, America.
We are, frankly, America, in one helluva mess, medically as well as politically and this President and his political party are standing squarely in they way of any solutions.

NEW YORK — President Trump’s latest attempt to block the Manhattan district attorney from obtaining his tax records was rejected by a federal judge Thursday.
U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero threw out the latest lawsuit brought by Trump’s lawyers which had argued that a subpoena to Mazars USA, Trump’s accounting firm, was “overbroad” in its request for documents and that it amounted to “harassment.” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. argued repeatedly that the subpoena, issued by a grand jury, was legally valid and tied to a legitimate criminal investigation.
And then one last breaking story today.
The case was initially dismissed due to its similarity to the federal charges
Manafort had been charged in New York for allegedly conducting a yearlong residential mortgage fraud scheme before the case was dismissed in December due to its similarity to earlier federal charges.
The Manhattan DA's office argued, according to court filings, that the state's double jeopardy law contains an exception that would allow the case to proceed.

This President President Just Took Three Big Broadsides in 24 Hours
Yes, really, SO much going on and honestly, precious little of it good or positive for this President Trump.
First up, this was released yesterday.
Former DHS official blasts Trump, endorses Biden
Miles Taylor, who served as the Department of Homeland Security's chief of staff, in a video endorsement of Biden said that working under the current administration was "terrifying.""What we saw week in and week out, for me, after two and a half years in that administration, was terrifying. We would go in to try to talk to him about a pressing national security issue — cyberattack, terrorism threat. He wasn't interested in those things. To him, they weren't priorities," Taylor says in the video, which was produced by the group Republican Voters Against Trump.
Taylor said that many of the things President Donald Trump wanted DHS to do were impossible and in some cases illegal. He characterized the president as vindictive and self-centered.
"Given what I have experienced in the administration, I have to support Joe Biden for president. And even though I am not a Democrat, even though I disagree on key issues, I'm confident that Joe Biden will protect the country, and I'm confident that he won't make the same mistakes as this president," Taylor, who was at DHS from 2017 to 2019, adds in the video.

The report highlights some never-before-seen evidence, including allegations about women and potentially compromising material tied to Trump trips to Russia
WASHINGTON — In a thousand-page bipartisan report released Tuesday, the Senate Intelligence Committee said the Trump administration obstructed its investigation with "novel claims" of executive privilege. It painted a portrait of a Trump campaign eager to accept help from a foreign power in 2016.
The Senate report, the most detailed account to date of the Trump campaign's embrace of Russian election interference, also asserted that the allegations that Ukraine interfered in the election — which President Donald Trump perpetuated — originated with Russian intelligence agencies.
The report highlighted some never-before-seen evidence about Trump and Russia, including three allegations of potentially compromising material relating to Trump's private trips to Russia that were unconnected to the dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele...
..."Russia and other countries took advantage of the Transition Team's inexperience, transparent opposition to Obama Administration policies, and Trump's desire to deepen ties with Russia, to pursue unofficial channels through which Russia could conduct diplomacy," the report said. "The lack of vetting of foreign interactions by Transition officials left the Transition open to influence and manipulation by foreign intelligence services, government leaders, and co-opted business executives."
It added, "Russian officials, intelligence services, and others acting on the Kremlin's behalf were capable of exploiting the Transition's shortcomings for Russia's advantage. Based on available information it is possible — and even likely — that they did so."

On Ukraine, the report said that Russian-government operatives from late 2016 until at least January 2020 consistently spread "overlapping false narratives which sought to discredit investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 elections and spread false information about the events of 2016."

Between even just these two events in the last 24 hours, this President took a couple of big, big hits, folks. And with these revelations on his campaign working with the Russians, etc., it's two big problems for him, among at least a few, if not several others, not least of which is the State of New York looking into prosecuting him.
Thirdly and finally, this was announced yesterday.
This President always was in over his head, so to speak. It's my contention he never knew what he was getting into because he clearly never knew our government and/or what's involved or what it takes.
As I keep saying, thanks, Republicans. That's quite the guy you foisted on us all.

The Very Embarrassing Comparison of Missouri vs New York City in this Pandemic
Check this out. First, New York.
So great for them, right? Kudos, New York City. Way to go. No one being killed on the streets. Makes sense. Little to no traffic, so great results.
But here in Missouri?
Our own Show Me State?
Check out these statistics.
We're speeding more. And not just speeding but a lot of us out there are pushing triple digits--100 miles per hour and more.
As Missouri plans to reopen some businesses this May 4, one thing you can rely on is a lot more traffic along major interstates.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said some drivers have been using the stay-at-home order to their advantage.
"We've noticed roughly a 40% decrease statewide in the amount of traffic that's out there," said Capt. John Hotz at MSHP headquarters in Jefferson City.
"As 80 miles an hour used to be considered a high speed, we've seen quite a few speeds in the 100+ mph range," said Hotz.
Troopers across Missouri tweeted some of those speeds. One showing a motorist going as fast as 145 mph.
That's bad enough right? But then, consequently, more of us are also dying on the roads.
So get that?
Traffic is down and down significantly across the state. Way down. But we're SPEEDING MORE and MORE OF US ARE DYING.
Isn't that wonderful?
And sure, you can say it's not fair comparing a city to an entire state but come on. Don't you think at least ONE of these statistics should be good, improved for us here is Misery? I mean Missouri?
We are, most all of us, not on the roads and streets and highways nearly as much and it shows and we're paying less in car insurance because of it but we're getting WORSE RESULTS? IN ALL EXAMPLES?
And sure, you can say it's not fair comparing a city to an entire state but come on. Don't you think at least ONE of these statistics should be good, improved for us here is Misery? I mean Missouri?

Kansas City Gets a Brief But Good Mention In the Times Today
Yes, Kansas City gets a very brief mention and good nod in today's New York Times. So what if it comes at the very end of the article?
When a Brooklyn politician tells transplants to “go back to Ohio,” what exactly does that mean?
It's an article about a public figure who lamented the gentrification of the Big Apple and all the people from "flyover country" intruding and inhabiting the city, thus driving up prices and sucking the personality of the city, out of it. How it ends:
Five years ago a school district near Kansas City, Mo., gained wide attention when a transgender student was crowned homecoming queen. Three years after that, two elementary schools in the district installed gender-neutral bathrooms.
If you are welcome where you are, maybe you don’t have to leave
So kudos to you, Kansas City. Kudos to us. We're opening our minds out there.

You Should Be Watching This
A documentary on Jackie Robinson is on this evening on PBS and KCPT. It's part one of this series by, again, no surprise, Ken Burns.
It is fantastic.
What Jackie Robinson did and what he--and his wife--went through is just incredible.
And PBS, showing this now.
Incredible. Brilliant.
We need to know this history, period, but it's especially important and relevant just now, at this time, with racism, once again, rearing its ugly head. No surprise but another Ken Burns documentary. And then with Colin Kaepernick, standing up against injustice, just as Jackie did? It's extremely poignant.
We need, however, as a nation, to stop having to relearn these lessons. We should know all this already. We went through it. We shouldn't have to go through it again, to learn it once more.
Oh, and Buck O'Neil is even in it so all the more reason to watch.
Go watch this program, folks.

The Most Expensive Presidency Ever?
I saw this article today out on FB:
Trump Tower security is costing the
US taxpayer $400000 every single day
There are so many things about this to know and keep in mind, it's pretty stunning.
That figure alone, $400,000 per day---nearly one half million dollars a day for security for the man in the White House who has not divested and who will not divest from his portfolio, Emoluments Clause or no.
Screw you, America. He has money to make.
Forget that it could--and likely would--cloud his decision making for and on the nation. He and his money are far too important to be bothered with our legality and laws.

Second, think about this. Do some math.
$400,000 per day turns out to be--wait for it--146 million dollars per year.
Just for this President. And only because he won't, again, divest himself of his business portfolio and hey, it's more fun flying back to NEW YORKE SITTY so he can be in his own tower on whatever floor, surrounded by very tacky, lowbrow gold furniture and furnishings.
New Yorkers have to love the inconvenience of having this bonehead in town, too, don't you know? Blocking the streets, making traffic yet more impassable. It must be even more awful.
Then, let's do some more math, fellow Americans.
Over four years---if, God forbid, he makes it that long, given what we've seen of the first two weeks--Mr. Trump and his very reckless, impetuous presidency would cost us, cost you and I, cost the nation 584 million dollars.
Just to keep his tower, his building and him, secure.
That's just under two thirds of a billion dollars.
For security.
For this one President.
Understand and keep in mind not just that this is unprecedented (spelled and used correctly here, please note), but how completely unprecedented this all is. No president has ever needed or required or asked for this kind of security and protection. We've never had this kind of additional, unnecessary expense before.
This, on top of the fact that Mr. Trump never divested of his business holdings, make this one of the most dangerous and expensive presidencies in the history of the nation, without question. It's a dangerous presidency because of the risks we incur getting him in and out of New York City but also because of those same risks just having him there, fulfilling his selfish whims.
That it's the most expensive presidency we have ever seen or will likely ever see is shown just in the math, above.
So much for Right Wingers, "Conservatives" and Republicans wanting to be the government of small spending, eh?
