To the Black--African-American--community

‎"We have not said much about the homosexual at all, but we must relate to the homosexual movement because it is a real thing. And I know through reading, and through my life experience and observations that homosexuals are not given freedom and liberty by anyone in the society. They might be the most oppressed people in the society." --Huey Newton, Co-founder of the Black Panther Party
August 15 1970

It's about equality, people.

Equality.

That's all.

The same thing you've been working and fighting for.

That's all.

Equality is not easily won, but it can be won despite the objections of some. if you are looking for everyone to affirm your position or agree with it then you are going to be disappointed. It simply is not going to happen and that does not make the people that don't agree with you villians.

No, unfortunately, as obvious as it should be that all people are already and so, should be treated equally in all aspects in any society, if history shows us anything, it's that it's not easily won.

That shouldn't give anyone--anyone--the excuse for not seeing to it their fellow person in the society also has equal rights. Just because they're not easily won, doesn't let anyone off. It gives no one an excuse. Far from it, actually. That it's not easily won is nearly irrelevant.

Your other point, that if I'm 'looking for everyone to affirm" my "position" is, again, irrelevant as I'm not looking for anyone else's approval. I just keep hitting on the same truisms--like this one--in hopes that minds are opened.

Finally, no, it doesn't make the people that don't agree with me "villains" at all. It makes them wrong, on obvious points like these but it doesn't make them villains.

At all.

Thanks for the note, whoever you are.
