Quote of the day--on war
"Why is war such an easy option? Why does peace remain such an elusive goal? We know statesmen skilled at waging war, but where are those dedicated enough to humanity to find a way to avoid war?" --Elie Wiesel

Dear Mr. Kevin: Great quote!! As to why war is such an easy option for people in office, let us remember that in a time of crisis those who call for restraint are called "unpatriotic" and "wimps" while those who call for war are called "tough." Sincerely, Respectfully and In Christ, Ernest Evans PS: To the US political class, being "tough" means that you are quite willing to get a lot of people you don't know killed.
Great to hear from you again. I thought I'd lost you somehow.
Thanks for the compliment--and for stopping by and your note, of course.
Yes, what a shame. It wasn't that long ago we had people in office who could and would challenge us to wage peace instead of war. We've entered the "land of the bizarro", it seems. That last president was all too happy to begin his arbitrary, selective war. Too bad he didn't know anything of history. Too bad for us, sadly.
Oh, well.
Now let's try to stop two of these wars, at minimum and bring the soldiers home, eh?
