A new poll out right now and more from "W", the Chief Knucklehead

There's so much information coming out right now, about this last nightmarish 8 years of the Bush Administration it's dizzying.

Truly.

If only Molly Ivins were here to write about it--she was so right about this idiot.

Get this:

It seems "W" said "So what?" when told that there was no Al Qaeda in Iraq before he invaded that country in 2003. (Link to story and video here:
http://crooksandliars.com/cernig/bush-admits-al-qaeda-wasnt-iraq-invasion-so)

So what??

Are you effin' kidding me?

So what, George?

SO MORE THAN 4,219 AMERICAN SOLDIERS WOULDN'T BE DEAD!

So more than 100,000 Iraqis wouldn't be dead.

So thousands of American soldiers wouldn't be crippled by your stupid war.

So many more thousands of American soldiers wouldn't be suffering from PTSD.

So thousands of Iraqis wouldn't be crippled by your illegal, invasive, tragic war.

So we wouldn't still be in Iraq.

So we wouldn't have squandered the heretofore good American name and reputation if we didn't go in.

So there wouldn't be 2 million Iraqi refugees in the Middle East right now because their home country was blown apart, completely in violation of international law.

So there wouldn't have been an Abu Graib.

So there wouldn't have been all these pointless tragedies, stemming from this clusterbuck you created.

Anyone can go on and on here.

So what?

So we've squandered how much American capital on this mess so now we're in the largest debt of our country's history, just when we need money and infrastructure and jobs and much, much more, at home?

Holy cow.

How flip can one get?

Answer: "George Bush flip", that's how, and it's the worst, ever, like his Presidency.

And how does the American people feel about the "Knucklehead in Chief" now, at the end of this hellish nightmare?

Sure, most want him out of office.

According to a just-released poll from CNN, 75% of us want him out. (Link to original story here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/12/26/bush.poll/index.html)

And that stands to reason.

But, get this--only 28% think he's the worst President ever.

Further proof, ladies and gentlemen, that Americans just don't know history--even their own.

What we're fighting right now

Dick Cheney's still at it.

Dick thinks all his papers and all his emails are his, you see.

Dick doesn't play well with others.

Dick wants to make sure that you and I--taxpayers and voters--don't get the mistaken idea that he was working for OUR government or on OUR tax dollar.

All those pesky materials that could finger him for oh, say, felonies of one kind or another? He wants them. He wants to take them with him.

From the White House.

From the Vice President's mansion.

From our government.

Even as we speak.

Those Enron papers the government still wants to read about?

Fugedaboudit.

The real hoot here, too, is that his friends over at his pal-zy Supreme Court are the ones who get to decide if he keeps 'em, too.

And I'll tell you, they'd better not agree with him.

This administration has trashed too much of our Constitution and this country to get away with more of this crap, I'll tell you.

That's not where it ends, though, either.

Dick is also fighting the GAO--the Governement Accountability Office--of all groups. He doesn't want his papers from his secret deals with Enron to be made public, of course.

And why would you, when what they came up with in private brought about incredible, cushy deals for the very energy companies that were there in the room?

So it ain't over, folks, not by a long shot. We can't "breathe easy", what with the Bush Administration being almost over.

There are still battles to be fought against these people and battles to be won.

We can't have them savage our country any more than they already have.

Awareness and some kind of action are what's required, even now.

3 Movies all Americans should see

Last evening, I finally got to watch the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car?".

It immediately made clear to me that this one, along with 2 others, are three simple, important, informative movies that, like it says above, all Americans should see.

And they should see them not because we need to blame anyone (George W. Bush), or because we need to punish anyone (George W. Bush), but because it's important to know what happened in our recent past so we also know where we are now, what we can do--what we're capable of--and where we should go and what we should do, as a country.

Last night's movie told of the magnificent, simple electric "EV" car (electric vehicle) General Motors was, at first, required by California to build and its temporary, short-lived success in California and Arizona and expedient, diabolical demise, due to both GM and the oil companies, with the help of local and state government.

It's fascinating, not well-known, sad, frustrating and, again, important.

The second movie we all should see is "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room". It told of the financial and economic raping of America by one group of people from one corporation, with the complete and total backing and support of our very own President at the time, one George W. Bush. (Sound familiar?). There's so much more here that happened that we all need to know about, before, during and after this debacle.

The last film that should be required viewing for us is "Uncovered: The Whole Truth About the Iraq War".

This should be self-explanatory but actually, most Americans think they know what happened to get us to where we are now when, in fact, the buildup to this Iraq War has many details and components to it most don't know. Also, after we invaded Iraq, it was found we didn't really have a plan for its occupation, making an even larger, greater mess and causing many more casualties.

What's sad is that precious few Americans have seen these films.

What's sadder is that so few will--or want to.

Again, how can we know where to go and what to do if we don't even know our recent past?

We're going to be paying for this Administration for years--both for this war and the economy.

If there's a hell--and I don't think there is--there would be a special place for this President in it, surely.

Finally, proof positive

Okay, sure the world is going to hell in a handbasket monetarily and in all ways financial but, as a side note, I have to point out that, right now, there's a CNN report showing the White House has totally lost its collective mind.

The Patriot Act?

You patriots thought that was just to keep watch on the terrorists and possible terrorists out there, right?

Well, buckos, every left-wing liberal who said we were selling the Constitution down the river is now officially correct.

Check this out:

"Congress is looking into allegations that National Security Agency linguists have been eavesdropping on Americans abroad."

Ain't that sweet?

"A terrorist surveillance program instituted by the Bush administration allows the intelligence community to monitor phone calls between the United States and overseas without a court order -- as long as one party to the call is a terror suspect."

"'Adrienne Kinne, a former U.S. Army Reserves Arab linguist, told ABC News the NSA was listening to the phone calls of U.S. military officers, journalists and aid workers overseas who were talking about "personal, private things with Americans who are not in any way, shape or form associated with anything to do with terrorism."

You owe it to yourself and, really, no exaggeration, to your country, to read the full article. (See link below). It will make you nauseous but it's very important to know.

Right in the middle of our world falling apart, we find that our own government doesn't even trust the American Soldiers who've volunteered to fight and possibly die for our country in a wrong war--one we we were all lied into.

Could there possibly be more insanity in the world?

Don't answer that.

I know the answer is yes.

Good God. Proof positive this White House, this President, this Vice President and this entire administration has no regard for right, wrong, good, evil, loyal and faithful American Soldiers, anyone or anything.

They can't distinguish between good or evil so everyone is suspect--even the people fighting and dying for us.

I say again, I don't even recognize my own country.

You think the next administration should be open?

After the darkness of the current Presidential and Vice Presidential administrations, don't you want to think the next one will be open and accountable to us, the American taxpaying and voting public?

Sure you do.

So do I, naturally.

And wouldn't you think that, right now, with so little time left in this campaign that the candidates would both be open AND promising that their administrations would be open?

I would. But that's not the case.

Check this out:

According to the Kansas City Star newspaper yesterday, "John McCain hasn't spoken to the press corps that follows him for five weeks, or invited national reporters onto his bus in more than two months."

TWO MONTHS??

And this is the guy who wants us to vote for him?

Are you kidding me?

There's more:

"On the Straight Talk Air Express, reporters chanted: 'Bring Mac back! Bring Mac back!' The staff smiled and pulled the cabin curtain."

Still more:

"Another time, after they asked McCain adviser Steve Duprey to bring the candidate back to talk, Duprey returned--wearing a McCain mask."

Funny, huh?

NOT.

And finally, to really top things off and close out today, there's this: On the campaign trail in the past few days, the McCain staff isn't letting "Little Miss Sunshine", Sarah Palin, interact with reporters and ask questions. They're just propping her up for speeches, letting her regurgitate her studied diatribes and then scurrying her off the stage and out of the public eye.

No questions.

No answers.

So, if all those rocket-scientist "undecideds" out there help vote these 2 clowns into public office in November, don't expect any light coming out of the White House. That place will be so dark, it'll make Dick Cheney proud.

One small satisfaction

The one thing--the only thing--I can take any small comfort from out of all this financial mess we're now dealing with--and will continue to be dealing with, for weeks or months or years to come--is that, out of all the socialism and fascism that is and will continue to come out of it, was all brought to us by the Republican Party.

Oh, yeah, the Republicans.

It was Senators John McCain and his pal Phil ("The United States is a nation of whiners") Graham that wanted to--and did--deregulate the banking industry that we're paying for now and will continue to pay for.

President Adolf Bush and his sidekick, Vice President Goerring Cheney want their tightly controlled, ultra-secret government with its listened to and watched public. That's where the Fascism has come.

And the socialism, what with buying the mortgage markets first, and then the insurance conglomerate, AIG and now, did you hear this? The Congress wants to cover banks on our loans over in Europe and, I guess, around the world.

Not stopping there, Rep. Barney Frank (yeah, OUR guy) said aloud this weekend that maybe we should throw more good federal tax dollars at the credit card industry, too.

Holy cow. Where is this going to stop?

And when?

And how soon?

I like my idea of just buying up the healthcare industry and nationalizing the energy industries.

My plan would have been cheaper.

And had a lot more benefits.

Good luck to us, people.

We need it.

Their duty

To everyone, everywhere in the United States who ever voted for President George W. Bush for that position: make sure you watch and listen this evening, as that chucklehead thanks you for allowing him to do to this country just exactly what all he's done to us for the past 7 years--deceit, war, debt, his administration's unconstitutional reach into our personal lives and more.

Further reason why I write this blog

I was reminded today of why I first started this blog and why I continue to write.

The outrageousness and ignorance and stupidity and greed and ugliness that comes out of this White House and this George W. Bush administration is just too much.

This blog is meant to give information for some and catharsis for me.

President George W. Bush (man, it has always hurt to say that) was on the radio yesterday for his weekly radio address and, unbelievably, blamed the Democrats for high gas prices.

OH MY GOD...

I couldn't believe it. I still can hardly believe it.

This President, the one from Texas, the one from and for oil companies, the one with a Vice President and Secretary of State and a lot of others both in and around this administration, from the oil companies, has the nerve and gall to accuse the Democrats of being the reason for the high oil prices.

Holy cow.

Don't you think your arbitrary, internationally illegal war in the Middle East which you at least "misrepresented" to us, the American people, had anything to do with it, Mr. President?

It's as I've said the last several months--all Americans, be they Republican, Democrat, black, white, conservative, liberal--all of us, from all walks of American life--should have automatically bought oil stocks in 2000, once this shill for Big OIl and Big Business stole the White House election.

It was one thing we could have counted on--oil prices going up.

We just didn't know how far up.

There's not much time left, you know

No, there's not much time left, between now and January 20, 2009, when this administration is no longer with us. It's too much time, though, we're finding out, because these people are really trying to dismantle the environmental and constitutional protections that are already in place.

What am I talking about, beyond my entry a few days ago, when I showed how they were trying to take apart the Endangered Species Act?

Yesterday it was announced that the FBI, via Attorney General Michael Mukasey, is planning on getting rid of rules that were put in place after the Republican Watergate nightmare. Yeah. They want to make it easier yet for the FBI to spy on us, the American public.

Once again, unbelievable. Truly unbelievable.

They've already taken down so many protections that used to be in the Constitution, to protect the American people from the government and now they want more.

Remember Nixon's "enemies list"? That's what these post-Watergate rules were created to protect the country from, for pity's sake. AND THEY WANT TO TAKE THOSE DOWN.

For a refresher course on Tricky Dick's list, it included many, prominent US citizens. Several of them were senators, big-name media people (like Dan Schorr, for God's sake), a governor, the mayor of New York at the time, Union leaders, celebrities--Carol Channing, of all people--business people, heads of corporations, and more. For a complete list, go to this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_list_of_Nixon_political_opponents.
It's a real hoot.

Ol' Dick (Cheney, this time) must be dying to go after what he--or they--see as "enemies of the White House", ya' think?

In so many ways and on so many different spheres, it seems that we, as a country, as a people, don't learn our lessons from our actions, or preemptively, from history.

Thoughts on our world

Seeing the opening of the Olympic Games last evening, from Beijing, made me think how clever mankind can be, both collectively and individually. We all get together and create and see these wonderful spectacles of sight and sound and cooperation. And then we go back to our own homes and countries and all the intelligence and possibility seems to go out the door, so to speak.

We get back on our own home turfs and start thinking that "those people" out there, whoever we fear, are "out to get us" and that we must protect ourselves from them, whether they're Russians and Soviets or Vietnamese or Koreans or Blacks or Chinese or Communists or gays or whoever just isn't like us.

We let our fears and even ignorance of our fellow man and the world take over.

Instead of working together for all of our betterment, we feel and think we have to work to keep "what is ours" and/or to make sure that, "in the future" we have enough.

And it's true for the stereotypical "hillbilly" from Appalachia from a century ago, right down to some people who are supposed to be leading us in and from Washington, today.

I think it's this kind of thinking that Vice President Dick Cheney, his ilk and those of this administration seem so concerned about. It's why we attacked Iraq, it seems. After all, we must have all that oil, mustn't we?

You'd think that, after all the centuries of struggle, we would all, collectively, come together and work together to solve the issues of disease, hunger, pollution, even war--all our problems.

We could do it.

More proof they lied

Okay, before we had the Downing Street memo, remember? It proved that the Bush White House was "cooking the books" about intelligence in and about Iraq, so they could take us all to war.

Now, here comes a book from Pulitzer Prize winning author Ron Suskind, saying that the Bushies lied to us further and that he has proof.

In his new book, '“The Way of the World,” to be published Tuesday,' Mr. Suskind 'claims that the White House ordered the CIA to forge a back-dated, handwritten letter from the head of Iraqi intelligence to Saddam Hussein.'

See the entire, original story here:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080805/pl_politico/12308

But wait, there's more!

Indications are that Mr. Suskind's information may, in fact be valid and not dreamed up, as the White House, Republicans, the neocons and Fox "News" would have us believe:

'The letter’s existence has been reported before, and it had been written about as if it were genuine. It was passed in Baghdad to a reporter for The (London) Sunday Telegraph who wrote about it on the front page of Dec. 14, 2003, under the headline, “Terrorist behind September 11 strike ‘was trained by Saddam.’”'

The original article has a great deal more information to it, too, than I will relate here. Suffice it to say, it's pretty condemning and indicting of this administration.

So bury your head in the sand if you wish, but this seems to be further, strong proof that y'all were duped into this high human and financial cost war. Check it out, by all means.

If anything, this should embolden Senator Kucinich, in his quest to impeach the current occupant.

Stay tuned.

Thursday, July 24, 2008

This is an easy one

Did you hear of or see this quote from that illustrious deep-thinker, John Bolton, former US Ambassador to the United Nations? About that Bush Administration, he said that the Bushies ability, now, to speak to other, hostile countries amounted to "the intellectual collapse of the Bush Administration."

What they do is stupid and what they say is even dumber.

The "intellectual collapse" of this group is like a child jumping off a street curb.

There are so many places to start, on how ignorant this administration has proven itself, both nationally, within the country, and internationally that I just won't. If you want to see things about this, go to The New York Times homepage on the net (www.nytimes.com) or read some of my past posts or go to some of the links on this page. Really, it's just too easy.

But for John Bolton, of all people, to say that this group is capable of an "intellectual collapse" is just too much. In the first place, there aren't too many people who would put him on a pedestal of admirable, deep thought, let alone this "current occupant" and Darth Cheney or Condoleeza or "Rummy" or Wolfowitz or any of the rest of the whole kittenkaboodle. There's just been too much stupidity. Historical stupidity. Tragical stupidity and ignorance.

What isn't frustrating should be good for a laugh--a deep, belly-laugh.

And this is one of those.

Nothing but good news today

All from Yahoo! news just now:

* Stocks jump on drop in oil, Wells Fargo report
* American League All-Stars win 4-3 in 15 innings
* US troops pull out of Afghan base after attack
* Mass. Senate votes to let out-of-state gays marry
* Bush claims executive privilege on CIA leak (well, except this but this everyone expected this)

Some thoughts:

We ALL need oil prices to come back down out of the stratosphere, of course. Homes, families, businesses, everyone needs that

Stocks going up? There again, that's nothing but good news, unless your money is in "puts", of course. The market's gone so far South, it needs a good share of "North".

US troops pulling out of anywhere is always good. Let's get those men and women home, as soon as possible--and safely.

It kills me that the very people who supposedly want government out of our personal lives--read: Republicans and Conservatives--are the very ones that want that same government to reach into marriages and discriminate against two people who want to commit to each other. They don't "get it" but, hey, no one ever accused them of thinking.

The American League winning the All Star Game is always good. "Go, Royals!". As a side note: this game went so late that the local paper, the Kansas City Star, could only print that, last they checked, the game was still tied and into an insanely late overtime--that's how late it was. For the record, it ended in 15 crazy, long innings.

And now for my favorite topic, of all the above-listed stories: It seems "The Current Occupant" (of the White House, of course), has to claim "Executive Privilege" in the outing of a CIA agent, by someone in his own White House. That's like asking for a pardon, before you're charged with a crime, isn't it? (Yes, it is).

In fact, upon looking into the article, I found the following quote from Senator Henry Waxman, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, on the matter: "This unfounded assertion of executive privilege does not protect a principle; it protects a person," Waxman said. "If the vice president did nothing wrong, what is there to hide?"

I'm sure they'd say nothing, nothing at all.

Yeah, right.

And there were WMD's in Iraq, too.

More Proof that this White House is against Americans

...at least, the "little guy".

Until before the current Presidency, I always believed that our government in the United States was, at it's core, still for the "little guy" in America. Sure, the fat cats--the rich people, the corporations and all the rest--could easily, for a thousand dollars here or 50,000 there, still buy a Congressman or favorable legislation. But when it came down to the ultimate good of the American public, our health, say, or other, much bigger issues, I was convinced that our government could and would protect us.

And along came "W".

Holy cow, this Big Oil/Big Business bozo is totally, 100% committed to getting all he and his administration can get for his uber-rich, fatcat friends and associates. And by associates, I mean "other people who also have lots of money."

Anyway, now this, today--more proof of how this White House is against America:

Cheney wanted cuts in climate testimony

By H. JOSEF HEBERT, Associated Press Writer Tue Jul 8, 9:53 AM ET

Vice President Dick Cheney's office pushed for major deletions in congressional testimony on the public health consequences of climate change, fearing the presentation by a leading health official might make it harder to avoid regulating greenhouse gases, a former EPA officials maintains.

When six pages were cut from testimony on climate change and public health by the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last October, the White House insisted the changes were made because of reservations raised by White House advisers about the accuracy of the science.

But Jason K. Burnett, until last month the senior adviser on climate change to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen Johnson, says that Cheney's office was deeply involved in getting nearly half of the CDC's original draft testimony removed.

"The Council on Environmental Quality and the office of the vice president were seeking deletions to the CDC testimony (concerning) ... any discussions of the human health consequences of climate change," Burnett has told the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

The three-page letter, a response to an inquiry by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., the panel's chairwoman, was obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press. Boxer planned a news conference later in the day...

...Senate and House committees have been trying for months to get e-mail exchanges and other documents to determine the extent of political influence on government scientists, but have been rebuffed.

______________________________________________________

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen of the United States. More proof, as though we need it, that this government is for Corporate America, Big Business, Big Money Interests, Wealthy People (like your tax break, folks?), Big Oil and the like. From "W" and Dick on down, this is them vs. the U.S., us.

President Eisenhower, way back when, was right. Ralph Nader has been right all along. Molly Ivins was right, God bless her... and this is no way to run a country.

I hope it's not too late to get our country back.

Check this out

Did you know that your own--our own--government, the United States government, is paying--yes, paying--Iraqis, regularly, "in exchange for not fighting" in Iraq?

If not, then, do you know how may Iraqis we are paying to not fight?

It's hard to believe.

91,600 Iraqis.* Regularly.

Thank you, once again, George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and all others involved and responsible.

Good plan, guys.

And now this...

Headline from 19 minutes ago:

Ex-Government Officials Say the Bush Administration Ignored Iraq Corruption

By ANNE FLAHERTY, Associated Press Writer

Get the whole story at this link:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080512/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_iraq_corruption

Okay, folks, let's get this straight:

They lied to us about why we should go over there;

They lied to us about why we should attack a sovereign, foreign nation WHICH IS AGAINST INTERNATIONAL LAW;

They lied to us about the "enemy" having weapons of mass destruction, and it's been proven;

They lied about "winning", prematurely;

They lied to us and to themselves about it being a "fast" war (we're going into our seventh--yes, that's seventh--year);

They lied to us about this being a "cheap" war (we're at ONE-HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS now, and still counting);

They lied to us about not losing very many soldiers (we're over 4,000);

They didn't have a plan for the country once they created their power vacuum;

They blew up the country--and continue to do so;

We are now rebuilding same country--THAT WE BLEW UP;

They've given away millions of sweetheart deal contracts;

They didn't compete these same multi-million dollar contracts;

They've literally HANDED OUT millions of dollars in COLD HARD CASH (yeah, there's a good idea, huh?);

They cannot prove that Iran has been supplying arms, in large quantitities, to Iraqi insurgents;

and just generally screwed everything up for the last 7 years and now this--proof positive that this same Bush Administration IGNORED multi-million dollar corruption by the officials in Iraq that we're supposed to be helping and who are supposed to be helping us rebuild their country.

You gotta' be kidding me.

If you were either the bad guys--who want us there to kill us--or the good guys--who want us there so they can take our money--WHY WOULD YOU WANT THE US TO LEAVE??

Oh, yeah, great plan, George. You just keep outdoing yourself.

News flash: John McCain wants to continue on this "path of progress."

(Bang head on wall here).

I'm going to end today's post with a quote from the end of this same article by Senator Byron Dorgan, Head of the Democratic Policy Committee--and then a question: "It is a cruel irony if we are appropriating money next Thursday or did appropriate money last month or last year and that money ends up actually providing the resources for an insurgency in Iraq which ends up killing Americans," said Dorgan, D-N.D.

So the question is, WHY AREN'T YOU ANGRY AND DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS?

Say it once and repeat frequently

Let's say this now and make this clear, 9 months before the knucklehead leaves office:

George W. Bush created and, more importantly, LOST this war, that's the long and short of it. The next President, whoever that is, did not lose this war.

Say it again. Say it frequently. Make--and keep--this clear.

George W. Bush, Vice President Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and anyone and everyone else who created or helped create this stupid, misrepresented, illegal war and incursion into Iraq are the ones who lost this war. The next person to pick up the mantel of President for the United States has to clean up the mess, yes, BUT THEY DID NOT LOSE THIS WAR.

It would be a gross, unjust miscarriage of justice to say or think that anyone else lost this war but "W" and his cabal. They went in against international law. They chose, arbitrarily and unjustly, wrongly, to go in. They chose to go in with too few soldiers and support. They chose to go in without a plan. They chose to go in without a plan for after the "liberation" and/or fall of Saddamm Hussein. They did all these things, themselves, all alone. Senators Clinton, McCain or Obama (or former Senator Gore), if they are the next President did none of this. It won't be theirs to lose, in any way and it's extremely important to call this out now--and again and again, through next January's inauguration and beyond. History needs to call out these important details and facts.

It would be a gross injustice to the next administration, to the American people and to history to have it labeled any other way than that it was a war--let me repeat again--that George W. Bush and his administration lost.

Meanwhile, this from Yahoo! and the Associated Press just now: "US GI's in Iraq Suffer Worst Week of '0". See it at this link:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080412/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq
