Quote of the day--guns vs. butter
"Why is nobody talking about the Afghanistan adventure as a cause of our plunging recession? Or at least citing the 30-year-old endless war as a major contributory factor in wasting our money to "nation-build" in the Hindu Kush while our own country falls to pieces on food stamps, foreclosures and child poverty – one in five kids – that would put the world's poorest nations to shame?" --Clancy Sigal, from The Guardian, "America: Hooked on War and Getting Poorer"

Please. This is old news. I was deployed to that fraud of a war in Iraq back in 03, and no one wanted to raise the BS flag on what was going on w/ the administration. Look where that has gotten us. Dead soldiers and continuing to throw money away into a country that doesn't want/need us there.
Some solution you offer. Natch.
First, thanks for that--it made me laugh.
Second, it may be old news to you and I and anyone who keeps up on news but for the average American on the street--who doesn't, I might add--it is news. It's news to a great deal of them.
Third, I've put this up so people are more aware of it, to begin, but also to show where we are.
Finally, my "solution" is heavily suggested and goes back to what I wrote here some weeks ago and that is that WE NEED TO GET OUT OF AFGHANISTAN. An important one, I think.
It's not my goal or job or whatever to be snarky to other bloggers, particularly ones who are intelligent and offer solutions. :)
have a great day,
mr
Obviously the wars are ruinous to our economy, but even worse — we literally haven't begun to pay for them.
They were UNFUNDED, courtesy of the "fiscally responsible Republicans."
And we keep fighting UNFUNDED and pointless battles, courtesy of the "stupid-as-fuck Democrats."
Your choice as a voter: the Mean Party or the Stupid Party. No wonder voters stay away from the polls in droves.
