KC Masterpiece rated one of best BBQ sauces

Yes, you read correctly. KC Masterpiece barbecue sauce is rated one of the best sauces in the nation for taste by Consumer Reports magazine (http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/635/the-best-bbq-sauces/). Apparently they couldn't get across town to Bryant's.

As long as Bud Light is the top selling beer in the US, I'm not going to get too upset about which sauce wins a contest.

Yeah, well, this is a two-fer for Kansas City, at least. We pay attention to barbecue here, locally, and want at least one of our sauces to win this kind of contest. That and the fact that it has "KC" in the name.

What a bunch of rubes.

Unfortunately for Missouri, at least for reputation, it's also out of St. Louis. We'll take the jobs but what an embarrassment otherwise.

Is Montgomery Inn barbecue sauce available in your area? The original restaurant is about an hour from here-I've never eaten there, but so far their bottled sauce is my favorite. It is meant to be applied the last bit of cooking.

No, I'm afraid Montgomery Inn barbecue sauce isn't available here unfortunately. It's my opinion that you can't try enough of these sauces. I'd love to try it. And that's the way I usually like the sauce done, too--once the meat is cooked, THEN apply the sauce. I don't prefer it burnt on though I do love me some burnt ends, for sure, when they're done right.

That's how I prefer, too--I think sauce during cooking interferes with getting a good smoke ring. Some day I'll have to go down to Montgomery (near Cincinnati) and try the actual Inn, but very few BBQ places have lived up to the hype. Then again, I like a LOT of hickory flavor,
