Next up, the incredible Sylvester Stewart, far better known as Sly Stone of, of course, that so-famous and enjoyed group Sly and the Family Stone, born this day 1943. Again, thank you for all that great music and memories. There is only one Sly and there was certainly only one Family Stone.

This Republican Party President is Having Another Meltdown Today
Yes, here we go again. This Republican Party President Trump is, one more time, having a social media meltdown. This morning:
MOST CORRUPT ELECTION IN U.S. HISTORY!
Then went to this, minutes later.
THE BIGGEST WINNER OF OUR NEW DEFENSE BILL IS CHINA!. I WILL VETO!
It's getting, it's gotten old. It's tiresome. For and to his supporters, it's dangerous. He's still, still trying to overturn our vote, our votes, our election and to attack our Democracy. Sadly, unfortunately, it has lead to this.
It's reckless, it's dangerous, it's deeply irresponsible.
Added to this, the following shows where we are just now.
...the American coronavirus pandemic is entering its worst stage yet, with cases and deaths skyrocketing across the country. Last Thursday saw over 3,000 deaths — more than 9/11 or Pearl Harbor — and with ICU beds at or near capacity in most of the country, absent serious change it is possible there will be double or even triple that number per day in a matter of weeks. We may yet top the deadliest day in American history, the Galveston hurricane of 1900 that killed an estimated 8,000 people, very soon. President Trump is doing precisely nothing about this.As we know, the Supreme Court, at long last, shot down Trump's and the Republicans' attempt out of Texas to overturn our election and votes. Tomorrow, Monday, the Electoral College will release their offficial election results, confirming, again, that Joe Biden won and is President-Elect and that--wait for it--Donald Trump lost.
Sure, it's been a bad, 4 day weekend for the Donald but using his own words, "It is what it is." It's the reality. We voted him out. We desperately need to get fellow Republicans to talk this, their President down off his ledge and to, at long last, concede.

Donald Trump and the Perfectly Bad, No Good, Rotten Weekend
You're Donald Trump---yeah, I know, sorry. It sucks to be you.
Anyway, yesterday, none other than our own US Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, of course, shot down your one more try to sue to have our presidential election and all our votes ignored, denied and overturned.
In two days, Monday, the Electoral College is going to release its formal results to that same election and declare, again, one more time, that you lost.
Way to sandwich a weekend, huh?
And then let's get back to that pesky little issue of the pandemic.
It's a BEE--YOO--TEE-FULL DAY!!

Supreme Court rules against Trump and the FDA authorizes the first coronavirus vaccine in America, both on the same day.
It's like conservative columnist and writer Bill Kristol wrote on Twitter yesterday:

This is the Republican Party, ladies and gentlemen. This is who they are. This is what they want. This is what they do. They're for, after all, corporations and corporate America and the already-wealthy. They're not for you and me. They're not for the middle class or poor.
In the middle of the worst, most killing, deadly international pandemic in the last more than 100 years, the Republican Party is actually trying to kill Obamacare which will most surely end health insurance for hundreds of thousands of Americans, at the very least, if not millions.
They're doing this now. Right now. Today.

The Collapse of This Presidency Likely Began Yesterday
Either one is excellent, of course.
It seems there are new, negative stories released about this President at least daily, if not hourly. Here are just a few of them from John Bolton's book, his former National Security chief:

And then there are the claims of his niece, as we know.
Can you imagine making fun of your father who's suffering from Alzheimer's?
Even if he WEREN'T going to give you 493 million dollars---but especially if he were. Wow.
Meanwhile and additionally, the Supreme Court ruled this past Monday that LGBTQ Americans should have equality in our nation---imagine that!---and shouldn't be able to be fired in the workplace for being gay or transgendered, etc. This goes completely against Mr. Trump and his goals.
Then, today, there was this Supreme Court ruling, also:
That was breaking news this morning. Within the last hour, the President tweeted this:
Do you get the impression that the Supreme Court doesn’t like me?
Ah... pobrecita....
To add complications to his re-election bid, it was announced yesterday that Tulsa, Oklahoma had it's largest outbreak of coronavirus yet. Famously, his re-election rally is set to be there this Saturday.
It was announced this week he's scouring the White House to find out who ratted him out about going to the bunker during the protests. And not just find out who it was but prosecute them in court, too.
That this President is using our own Department of Justice to do his bidding to keep Bolton from selling and distributing his book should alarm virtually all Americans.
Finally, at least here and now, today, ABC is going to air an interview with John Bolton this Sunday night, 9 pm Eastern time, covering and giving yet more details of his pretty scathing book on President Trump.
So yes, ladies and gentlemen, either yesterday was the day, I feel strongly, or this is the week but the wheels seem to have absolutely come off this Donald Trump re-election. You're all, we are all witnessing it now. It's not pretty, certainly, and we hope we can and do keep the nation safe and secure, even strong from here to Election Day, November 3rd and then from then until the following January 20 when the next President takes office.
God help us all and keep us safe.
May this long, national, dangerous, reckless nightmare be soon over, safely over.

More Equality Breaking Out In America Today
You maybe saw or heard about this today. It broke this morning, in the last hour or 2.
And sure, it's good news, certainly, but...
It's 2020 and women still don't have equality in the workplace, equality in pay. In America. And that's not all.
18 Ways Women Still Aren't Equal to Men
No real surprise here. The 6 countries? With equal rights for men and women? Yeah. All Socialist. Go figure.
Why? Why the US needs to pass the Equal Rights Amendment?
How about because we think ourselves to be a nation of equality. And justice. Both. How about that?
And unbelievably, we aren't even TALKING about the Equal Rights Amendment now, as a nation. It's not even a topic of discussion presently.
And here's some more bad news.
Yeah. Missouri is one of the sad, pathetic 13 states that HAVEN'T passed the Equal Rights Amendment.
Pitiful.
Unfortunately, they also did this.
They also let stand that police can be and are immune from prosecution.
Then, they ruled basically for Sanctuary Cities--or at least that they can still exist and be supported.
So we got two out of three good rulings today, for the people, from the Court.
We'll get there one day, to equality, full equality and fairness for all Americans.

BREAKING, GREAT NEWS, KANSAS!!

Kansas Supreme Court finds Republican Leadership had no legal authority to revoke Governor Kelly’s executive order limiting gatherings due to COVID19.
The revocation is null. The Governor's executive orders can only be revoked by the entire state legislature not the small leadership council.
Great, great news!

Republican Party Song of the Day, Week, Month, Decade. Century?
That these Republicans today are outraged, OUTRAGED! at the treatment of this, their party's nominee for the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court, this Brett Kavanaugh, in these hearings when they didn't even allow---remember that--didn't even ALLOW hearings for the previous President's pick for the court is the epitome of chutzpah, irony and hypocrisy, all.
I thought Trump gaining the White House would be the worst that could and would happen.
I was wrong.
So deeply wrong.

To All the Liberals and Left Wingers and Progressives
Think about this.
At minimum, at minimum, when Hillary Clinton takes office next year, this coming January 20, as president---and she will--she will, at the very least be appointing first one and then another or more Supreme Court Justices. At the very minimum.
And at that very least, the Democrats and Liberals and Progressives and anyone and everyone of any political stripe that realizes we need to get the money out of our politics will all get together and come up with a legal challenge to the earlier Citizens United ruling.
And it will be overturned.
So if you're maybe frustrated that Senator Sanders didn't make it to where we are now and to the White House, at least realize you have this. And it is no small thing.
Count on it.

Two Out of Three Isn't Supposed to be Bad
There were three judicial rulings announced today. Two of them went well for "the little guy", fortunately.
Here's the first:
Supreme Court unanimously rejects GOP challenge to VA districting case
WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday left in place a lower court's ruling that Virginia's Republican-led legislature unlawfully considered race when drawing U.S. congressional districts by packing black voters into one of them in a move opponents said diluted black electoral clout.
The court ruled 8-0 against current and former Republican U.S. House of Representatives members who had challenged a June 2015 lower court ruling that threw out the district. The justices found that the Republican lawmakers did not have legal standing to bring the case.
The focus of the case was on the composition of the majority-black U.S. House district held by Democrat Bobby Scott, the only black member of Virginia's congressional delegation.
Following the June 2015 ruling, some black voters from Scott's district were moved to an adjoining district, which is currently represented by white Republican Randy Forbes, one of the challengers in the case. This could make the district a possible Democratic pickup in the Nov. 8 election.
Seems a pretty crystal-clear case of redistricting to help your own political party while, at the same time, weakening the votes and choices of some of your fellow Americans. Unfortunately, as we're used, they just happened to be black. This has gone on far too long.
Washington (CNN) The Supreme Court ruled Monday morning in favor of a death row inmate in a case concerning race discrimination in jury selection.
Timothy Tyrone Foster, an African-American, is on death row in Georgia for the 1987 murder of an elderly white woman, Queen Madge White. The jury that convicted him was all white. Twenty years after his sentence his attorneys obtained notes the prosecution team took while it was engaged in picking a jury, including marking potential jurors who were black had a "b" written by their name.

What happened:
There's more to the story, of course, but you get the idea. I've followed this case for some time and it did seem a clear example of a true travesty of justice. One thing especially amazing about the case from the Court is that Justice Clarence Thomas dissented. Stunning.
The final case is the one that didn't go so well, at least in my own and a lot of people's eyes:
Again, what happened:
The officer, Edward M. Nero, sat with a straight back and stared forward as Circuit Judge Barry G. Williams, who ruled on the case after the officer opted to forgo a jury trial, read his verdict on the charges of second-degree assault, misconduct and of reckless endangerment.
“The verdict on each count,” said Judge Williams, concluding his reading after about 30 minutes, “is not guilty.”
“The state’s theory has been one of recklessness and negligence,” Judge Williams said. “There has been no evidence that the defendant intended for a crime to occur.”
A lawyer for Officer Nero, Marc Zayon, called for the charges against the remaining officers to be dropped.
BALTIMORE — A police officer was acquitted of all charges on Monday in the arrest of Freddie Gray, a black man who sustained a fatal spinal cord injury while in police custody. The verdict is likely to renew debate over whether anyone will be held responsible for Mr. Gray’s death.

So a guy, a black man, gets arrested and thrown in the back of the police van, then suffers a broken back from the ride and dies?
And no one is accountable?

Missouri Figures Prominently In First Supreme Court Deadlock
So the first voting deadlock since Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's death from the now 8-member US Supreme Court comes straight out of a case that began right here in Missouri:
WASHINGTON -- The risk created by last month's death of Justice Antonin Scalia became a reality Tuesday when the Supreme Court deadlocked in a bankruptcy case that had been pending since the first day of the term last October.
Chief Justice John Roberts read the one-sentence verdict, which could be repeated many times before a replacement for Scalia overcomes a similar deadlock between President Obama and Senate Republicans: "The judgment is affirmed by an equally divided court."
The case was one of the high court's least noticed -- a bankruptcy dispute between a Missouri bank and a development company that defaulted on its loans. The company was owned by two couples, and the wives filed suit, claiming discrimination for being required to guarantee their spouses' loans.
The justices clearly were divided in the case, as evidenced by the length of time it took to issue a decision. By the time Scalia died Feb. 13, the case had been under review for more than four months -- an indication of a close decision with one or more dissents.
Left without Scalia's vote, the justices had to ditch all the opinions, concurrences and dissents they may have been writing and, in essence, throw up their hands.
As a result, the Community Bank of Raymore emerges victorious over the two wives, Valerie Hawkins and Janice Patterson, by virtue of the earlier decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.
Here's hoping our Congress will, very soon, interview and discuss President Obama's nomination for the Court and have a vote on it.

None other than very Republican and Conservative and Right Wing icon President Ronald Reagan himself said Congress should do its job, especially regarding the Supreme Court and any vacancy.
