Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day out there, indeed.
This shot is dedicated to all the Moms and Mothers out there, sure, and particularly and especially to Helen Marie McCall Evans--Mom.
We lost her in 2000.
A harder working, more dedicated, sincere, compassionate and passionate person you could never want to meet.
We love and miss you, Mom.

How about that sunshine yesterday afternoon?

I may be all wet on this but I don't think so.  It just seems as though there's been a great deal of cloudy weather and days and not that much sun.  So yesterday, when the sun did break out, all of a sudden about what? 5 o'clock, it seems like the whole world opened up.  It seemed like it gave a rush of energy to everything and everyone.
As it happened, as the sun broke out, I was meeting friends for dinner.  I looked across the place and saw this great sun and shade and started snapping pictures.  I liked how a few, at least, turned out, including this one, of course.
So with that, here's your sunshine for today.  It looks like we aren't to get any more now for a few days, too.  If you need it, come back here (or go to my other blog KC Photog Blog.  I'll have more there, too).

Enjoy your Sunday, ya'll.

April showers? May flowers?

To heck with that.  We need color and we need it now.
It seems as though everything is either gray or brown outside right now.

Have a great day, y'all.

Quote of the day--on traditions, holiday and otherwise

Professor Gurland (see here) once commented that one of man's problems was looking for stability in a world of change. Perhaps he was right and this is the reason we find such tremendous comfort in those few enduring icons, legacy businesses, products and annual holidays and celebrations. And why nostalgia is so strong that we build bridges in our minds between past memories and present experiences with connections as cables.

Nelson workout

This cracked me up this Summer and believe me, I'm not laughing at these young men.  These 6 guys were working out and what amused me is just the unique way they chose to do their workouts.  You're seeing correctly--they're crawling down the stairs on the South side of the Nelson Art Gallery.  At bottom, they would then go back up, of course.  Later, they were wrestling with one another on the landing here.  It was just some young getting in a workout and having fun at the same time.  I was glad to catch it.
