For those of us who listen to NPR, do you suppose there is anything book critic Maureen Corrigan doesn't just absolutely LOVE that she reads? Or do you suppose it's her job to only review books she adores?
It's one or the other.
I don't get it.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I like her and I appreciate her enthusiasm and even positive nature but don't critics at least occasionally run along a book they not only don't care for but want to rip apart?

I like Maurren Corrigan's reviews and although thought she only did positive ones. But recently just did a scathing review of "Please Look After Mom," and got hammered for it in the NPR comments section.
I like her book reviews, too, but just had never, as I said, heard her review a book she didn't like and I thought it unusual, at least. Now, here's a case, finally, of where she doesn't like something by someone and she gets ripped for it? Tough listeners, eh? Hardly seems fair. I thought that's why it's called "criticism" and her a critic.
