The Nightmares That Have Been This Overseas Trip and the Only Three Explanations for Donald Trump

This trip President Trump has made to Europe--England, Scotland and now, on to Helsinki--has been yet one more collection of fiascos, no surprise, for the nation, what with the his insulting the Queen of England and so, the UK people, to start.

And now, to wrap up this nightmare of an overseas trip, he is to meet with our self-sworn enemy, Russia, and their President Vladimir Putin, for a completely private meeting--translators only. This goes against all national and international protocol and security, both. No President has ever had such a meeting, nor should they, without advisors and witnesses, overseeing said meeting.

Ladies and gentlemen, honestly, this President is one of three things. He is either 

1. really, densely stupid, 
2. insane or 
3. treasonous to our nation and doing all this for Russia 

It's one of those three. It's got to be. There are no other explanations. What else is there? What else could it all be?

What an attention span we--and our media--have.

Literally, one day the huge news is that the casualty count from a string of 600 tornadoes--600--is rising to 300 people and literally, the next day, the next morning, so much of the news--the top story today--is of the Royal wedding in England.

Okay, sure, as "commoners", we've all joked about how the Royal Family is so inbred and that that's why Charles has those automobile-size ears of his (open, on his car, er, head) and we know they're all over Europe, what with having screwed up--I mean--been in charge of and run Germany and who knows were all but a little note in Parade Magazine this week, of all places, pointed out the absolute ultimate in Royal Incest (I love the capital letters here, don't you?).

Check this out:  Everyone knows Her Highness Queen Elizabeth has had Corgis forever, right?  Turns out she's had 30 of the little buggers.  (I can say "buggers", can't I?  It's America, after all and we don't know it's not a good word over here, across the pond). 

Anyway, she's had a bunch of these dogs.

So, it turns out she let one of her precious little corgis (I shouldn't be capitalizing THAT, too, should I?) while Maggie's--I mean, Princess Margaret's--dachsund was around.

Uh-oh.

It turns out you can't keep nature from taking over and next thing you know there's a puppy litter on its way.

But get this.

Apparently no one had ever done this--mated (mixed?) a dachsund with a corgi (I mean, really, who'd want to, right?) so what'd they get?

A new breed.

Seriously.

They have been called "dorgis" ever since.

I'm sure there are people all over England, the British Isles and Europe, for that matter, who have had to follow suit and get one of these critters.

So now, what I'd like to know is, does the Royal Family get any residuals from this?

You know what money-grubbers they are.

Hopefully Mrs. Obama will come to Kansas City with this message

It seems First Lady Michelle Obama is a big hit with the Queen of England, the British people and their tabloid newspapers.

Good for her.

Good for us.

And while it's just dandy that Mrs. Obama and the Queen were apparently so struck by each other that they showed outward signs of affection (read: hugged each other?), what's better and more important is what she did later in the day:

"Mrs. Obama visited an all-girls school in North London on Thursday afternoon. She told the 240 girls about growing up on Chicago's South side, and urged them to think of education as 'cool.'"

"'I never cut class. I liked being smart. I liked getting A's,' she said. 'You have everything you need. Everything you need to succeed you already have right here.'"

That is precisely the message that American students--regardless of all color--need, frankly.

And that's what we need in the United States, frankly. Hopefully Mrs. Obama will bring that message of intelligence and studying and discipline back home with her. Children and adults, both, could apply this message. It would be nice to get over our dislike or suspicion of intelligence and the "intelligentsia".

Stupid, for the last 8 years of George W. Bush got us nowhere good.

I hope Mrs. Obama brings that message back home to the United States for the next 4 (or, here's hoping, 8) years.

I hope she brings it here, to the Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas area, too. It would serve her country well.
