Check this story out. It has to do with the two rich people who went outside their mansion a week or two ago in St. Louis and pulled guns on otherwise peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters.

Kim Gardner is the Circuit Attorney, or chief prosecutor, for the city of St. Louis. She was elected by the people of St. Louis in 2016 and assumed her duties in January 2017. She is the first African American to hold that position.

Trump and Parsons want to remove her from office because they don’t want her to prosecute the McCloskeys. Parsons wants to change Missouri law to give the power to remove her to the state government, somehow. Of course Trump has no authority to mess with elected officials of a state, never mind a city,. But it strikes me that for a state government to remove the elected official of a city flies in the face of the principles of republican (small R) government.

Then there's the fact that the Republicans are trying to dismantle the USPS, the Postal Service and have been for some time.

Now, the Trump administration wants statistics and health care data on and about and during this very killing, national and international pandemic to no longer go to the CDC.

If it isn't a male Republican bashing gays and legislating against them, or trying to, then being caught with a male in a sex romp, it's Republicans, like this one, that rails, along with his political party, about possible voter fraud and, voila'! Look what happens. He lists his residence as a commercial space AND GETS CAUGHT IN VOTER FRAUD.  And not one but 3 felonies, mind you.

I don't know for what.  Except maybe irony? Hypocrisy? Laughs when you aren't crying?

The nasty debate underscored how much of a “headache” Kansas has become for Republicans.

And what's amazing is that in all these cases, these men are all, all still in contention for their races. They haven't a) disqualified themselves or b) been thrown out, by the political party or by laws or anything.  They're still running.. That is quite the group of candidates they have running this year, I tell you what.

If you don't laugh with these guys, you cry. This political cartoon still fits them.

A friend emailed me this. I could nearly not believe how low, how, again, callous and cynical and ugly and heartless it is. Kris Kobach, out of Kansas, sent around this email this week for his event.

On April 20, the anniversary of the slaughter of innocents at Columbine, Kris Kobach has decided to have a rally to support "gun rights."  What he's proposing:

Secretary Kobach has offered to host a pro-gun rally for the Kansas State Rifle Association in his official capacity as Kansas Secretary of State.

Help us get supporters to Topeka on April 20th to defend the 2nd Amendment and promote our shared pro-gun values!

For anyone who doesn't know or remember:

Twelve students and one teacher were killed at Columbine that day. Gunned down. Slaughtered. The Columbine shootings rank as one of the worst mass shootings in US history as well as one of the deadliest episodes of school violence.

At approximately 11:19 a.m., two students, Dylan Klebold, 17, and Eric Harris, 18, carrying guns and bombs, open fire inside Columbine High School, killing 13 and wounding 23 others.

And it's on the anniversary of this day Kris Kobach wants to push for yet more "gun rights."

If that isn't cold, heartless, callous and even sick, I don't know what is.

Kansas Legislature shamelessly wasting time and money in Topeka

I can't believe this is true and that they wasted time and money like this. I just read this last evening:

Kansas officials plan to hold a hearing Thursday afternoon to weigh whether President Barack Obama is a citizen and should appear on the state's November ballot.

The Kansas Objections Board will be considering a challenge filed by Joe Montgomery, a Manhattan resident, who Monday objected to Obama being on the ballot. He claims the president is not an American citizen since his father was a citizen of the United Kingdom and Kenya. The all-Republican board -- which consists of Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer and Attorney General Derek Schmidt -- has the power to remove Obama from the ballot in his mother's home state.

This is stunning.

I can't believe they're not embarrassed.

I can hardly believe Kansans would put up with this.

Kansas, No. 1 of "States Trying Really Hard to Keep Poor, Black, and Students from Voting"

Yes, you read correctly. Kansas is voted number one as the state trying hardest to keep people from voting. Next door neighbor Missouri? Number 5. Kansas GOP: Keeping people away from voting but rushing across the state

More of the Republican agenda this week, sadly, out of Kansas.

No surprise, they've passed an ugly and very strict anti-voting law that requires a driver's licence or photo ID to vote:

Never mind that voting fraud isn't even a problem in the state.  This is obviously one more way to keep the elderly, the infirm and minorities away from the ballot box, purely and simply.

Sure, they deny it and will until a very hot place freezes over but this is the effects it has--to keep people FROM voting, instead of encouraging it.  It's the same reason we vote on Tuesdays and not the weekends--keep people from voting.

It was written, too, by "Mr. Gestapo", Kris Kobach.  He's the one who, you'll remember, wrote the immigration law for Arizona that got him so much national publicity.

It's disgusting but no surprise, certainly.  Who knows what idea they'll come up with in years to come, to keep still more of us from voting.

The 2nd item off the Republican leader's playbook this week out of Kansas is that they've pushed the speed limits on highways up to 75 miles per hour, instead of just the 70 we have now:

Texas is pushing for 85 so I'm sure the Kansas legislators want to "keep up with the Joneses" best they can.

Forget that law enforcement has experience on this subject that shows more people are hurt and killed, the faster we go.

Forget that it uses more gas to go ever faster and we want to use less fossil fuel oil and energy and not more, both for energy independence AND the environment.  Forget all that.

It's "full speed ahead!" on those Kansas, Republican highways out there.

Common sense and logic be damned.

Just stay away from the voting booth.

Kris Kobach is proving himself tiresome and irrelevant

In The Kansas City Star this morning, it quotes demagogue and Secretary of State candidate Kris Kobach as saying "...I think it is a fair question: Why not just produce the long-form birth certificate?" And of course, he's speaking of the birth certificate of President Obama. In another part of the article, it says "Koback spokesman Ben Davis denied that Kobach was a 'birther', as those who doubt Obama's U.S. citizenship are commonly called." Okay, let's get two things clear here: 1) No matter who says or denies it, Kris Kobach is a "birther", period, as long as he gives voice to these supposed "doubts". The facts of the matter are: the President presented his birth certificate, it's an official Hawaii birth certificate, the state of Hawaii presented his official birth certificate and, finally, if all that isn't/wasn't enough (and sadly it's not for these people), Barack Obama's birth was clearly, it has been shown and proven, announced in the local newspaper at the time; 2) Kobach--and people like him--need to stress and emphasize what they would do, should they be elected to the position for which they are running, to improve our states (and cities and nation), rather than throwing up this kind of nonsense which does nothing to improve our country but, instead, confuses the electorate and takes time and energy away from solving our very serious local, state and national issues.
