America: the untrustworthy "world leader"
Columnist/writer Nicholas Kristof of The New York Times asked the following question today on his Facebook page: "...what are some...points to make that connect the dots about the crisis in governance around the world?" For what it's worth, my response: America isn't trustworthy as a leader in world politics because far too much of our politics and far too many of our decisions are made based on what's good for the wealthy and corporations only, due to our election and political system. Unless and until we get the money out of our system, we don't have true statemen who make decisions based on what's good for the nation--and the world. They make decisions based on what's good for those same corporations and the wealthy instead. This infects decisions like those on climate change, sure, but also on simple business and banking issues as well. Sadly, we are not trustworthy partners in world leadership, because of this. Agree? Disagree? Comments? Link: https://www.facebook.com/nytimes/posts/424904139998
