The biggest way America is broken
The reason our gov't doesn't represent the people is because "campaign contributions" have gotten so out of hand. We need to, finally, institute true, accountable, tough, prosecutable campaign finance reform so the wealthy and corporations can no longer buy our representatives and so, their legislation, thereby buying our laws and government. Untiil we do that, nothing will change. Until we do that, they will continue legislating for those same wealthy and corporations, instead of for the country and people. Right now, it's not "for the people" at all. We need to get the money out, that's all there is to it.

We also have to be extremely careful that campaign finance reform doesn't add another layer of regulation to ordinary people. I wish I could find the link, but a reform in (I think) Mississippi requires 2 or more people who spend more than $200 for an issue or candidate register with the government and keep insanely detailed records, and any error can result in 5 figure fines. That's almost certainly unconstitutional, but someone has to risk and pay the legal bills to make it stop.
We need to get the big, ugly, corporate money out of our political system and government, that's all there is to it, so the people are represented again and not just the wealthy and corporations.
