On that "blue moon"
Tomorrow night, folks, we are to have a "blue moon"--a rare event. It is a 2nd full moon in the same month. Being that it's also August, it would be a really large, full moon, too.
So you know, the forecast for weather, due to Tropical Depression Isaac that's headed this way, we are to get clouds and rain tomorrow and tomorrow night.
What's it mean?
The closest we're going to get to seeing that big, beautiful, late Summer full, blue moon is tonight. It's actually right now.
Just so you know.
So, get out there, and take it in.
Cheers.

"Waterfire", renamed
Last evening's performance on Brush Creek should be renamed. It was to be "Waterfire", of course, and it's always terrific but last night's should just be called "Water", what with the rain before it, which delayed the beginning, and then at the end, hastening it's close. I will say this, though, too--the blocking of the sidewalks along the creed stifled the flow and fun of the event. In the past, we could all, as a crowd, go up and down, back and forth at the creek so it made the whole experience very flowing and open and "alive". This time, because we weren't to be on the sidewalks--they were concerned the creek would rise and there we'd all be in water up to our ankles--it killed some of the energy of the event. Still, though, it was fun and a great street party. And Kansas City doesn't have enough street parties.

Donations on the Country Club Plaza---really?
It seems a huge juxtaposition to see a clearly wealthy and beautifully appointed and coiffed woman with several beautiful and beautifully, rather expensively-clothed children on a street corner on the Plaza asking for financial donations. It happens repeatedly. They're obviously from a family--or some families--of some means but they ask for donations for their school. Wth? Seriously? And why would I do this? You choose to have your children go to a private, again, not-inexpensive school and you request assistance for the school? Uh, no. I don't think so. This would be another in a long line of definitions of the word "chutzpah". Have a great weekend, y'all.

Sunday juxtapositions on the Plaza
First, I noticed the leaves on the sycamore trees near the Plaza have turned a rich, warm yellow color. With this late summer sun shining on them, they are beautiful in their own right and I believe I got at least one picture--if not some--of them.
Second? There is a big Christmas display--in this same late August--in the windows of the former Sony store on the Plaza. Merry HallowThanksChrismas. (Perhaps I should say "hollow"). Enjoy your Sunday, y'all.

A different entry today
One of few times, if ever, my entry for the day--my message--is a photograph of mine and not prose.
Ronnie is a friend of mine, of a sort, honestly, and I occasionally have shot pictures of him or his things. You may have seen them if you ever saw my other, photography blog: www.kcphotogblog.blogspot.com.
I was just putting this up on that photo blog under the heading "Ronnie's bedroom and closet", when it occurred to me it would be very appropriate here, as well, today.
I think it can speak volumes to us, if we care to look.
If I were a better photographer, you could read that the sign says "No Loitering".
Try to have a good weekend, y'all.
