On Presidents, Honesty and Released Tax Returns

Check out the list.

And clearly Republicans are, to date, okay with this.

To quote another Republican:

"People have got to know whether or not their president is a crook."

--President Richard Milhouse "Tricky Dick" Nixon. Also famously--or infamously--a Republican it should be remembered.

It Keeps Getting Worse For The Trumpster, Too

This broke two days ago.

Quinnipiac poll: Trump approval hits new low

A bit from the article:

President Trump's approval rating has slipped to 38 percent, a new national poll finds.

The Quinnipiac University survey released on Wednesday says that only 38 percent of Americans approve of Trump's job performance, while 55 percent disapprove.

According to Quinnipiac, the 17-point difference in Trump's approval rating is the worst he's fared in a poll since taking office in January.

An earlier survey from the pollster this month registered Trump with 42 percent approval and 51 percent disapproval.

“President Trump’s popularity is sinking like a rock," Tim Malloy, the assistant director of the poll, said in a statement announcing the findings.

"He gets slammed on honesty, empathy, level-headedness and the ability to unite. And two of his strong points, leadership and intelligence, are sinking to new lows. This is a terrible survey one month in.”

Again, this is unprecedented, making for an unprecedented presidency.

We are right at 5 weeks into this administration and when this man and his people should be, traditionally, historically, enjoying high approval ratings, the first 100 days, this guy is, instead, at historic lows.

Does that tell you much, Republicans? Americans?

And wait. It gets better, too.

God, I love it.

What isn't to hate of this man and his administration--or fear, for our nation--is to love.

Think happy, positive thoughts, campers.

We sorely need laws about erasing government files

There has been a story out for some time, in the media, that apparently Mitt Romney's staff in Massachussetts erased computer files and bought and took computer hard drives so they could take them with them, at the end of the then-governor's term. (see links at bottom). To make it even worse, apparently Governor Romney's office also spent at least approximately $100,000 of the state's--the people's--money to do it, incredibly enough. This make clear that we need--on both the national, federal as well as state levels, laws that make this illegal. Once more, our laws must catch up to technology. While a representative is in office, they are doing "the people's business" and it is and should all public. At the end of any of those terms--regardless the person or office--all materials relating to those offices need to remain available. It's not only important for continuity of our government agencies but it's also an important way for us--the people--to keep our legislators and representatives responsible and even honest and operating with integrity. Unfortunately, this is another of those things that isn't going to happen unless we, the people, demand it of our representatives and government. We have to get busier yet. A reminder on now-Senator Roy Blunt

Just because Roy Blunt was--foolishly--voted into his current, new position as Senator from the great state of Missouri is no time to forget that he was, last year, up until the election, on the following list:

Ciitizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington's (CREW's) Most Corrupt List:

26 REASONS FOR ETHICS REFORM

See that guy up there in the number 2 position?  Yeah, that one.  That would be our now-Senator Roy Blunt.

Now that he's a Senator in Washington---dangit---let's keep the pressure on.  Let's make sure he knows we want and need good and good, clean government and actions from him, now that he's representing us in this new and powerful position of his.

Now that we chuckleheads in Missouri are going to, likely, vote him back in the same seat for as long as he wants to hold it.

Nobody ever said we were terribly bright.

If he's not honest and "clean", it's our fault, for not getting him there and demanding and requiring it of him.

Hey!

It's a new day. It's the weekend. Yay! (trying not to be shallow).

And I missed a post. Yesterday was busy.

So, great news! I've been trying to put something more positive out here--something not so heavily political and yesterday I found it. Eureka!

Did you see where a "huge" solar plant--according to the AP article I saw--is planned out in Arizona? I tell you, that's good news. We, as people in the United States separately, but also everyone else on the planet, too, need to see and understand that solar power is a way to get us out of all the biggest messes on this little planet. I mean this.

If we do more solar, even this way, with big solar power plants, but particularly if we developed more, better and cheaper photo-voltaic cells (so we could put them on our houses and office buildings) then 1) we wouldn't have to stay in the Middle East, where all the ignorant, centuries-old religious battles are still going on and 2) we would have FAR less pollution. And aren't those our largest problems on the planet? It seems as though they are. A third benefit would be the reduced likelihood of contributing to carbon dioxide output. (Did you notice I avoided saying "global warming"?).

Anyway, I see this as very welcome news, especially now, at the end of winter, when we're so cold-weather/gray skies intolerant. We need some encouragement.

Can you imagine NOT needing an electric company's power plant/pollution/bill in the mail? Wouldn't that be nice? No need for radioactive waste, either from using nukular power (thanks, Mr. President). That would be possible if we create those cheaper, more available photo-voltaic cells. It would help the US's security in so many ways, if we create them, rather than letting the Japanese or Chinese get on this first.

But first we have to get this knuclehead out of the White House.

Oh,well.

More fun for us today:

Check out these websites.

The first on the hypocrisy of Senator John McCain:

The second, a terrific, tongue firmly planted in cheek riff on the "Christian gene":

(and thanks, Bob, for this one).

The next one is WAY overdue. It's a clarification for 94.3% of Americans (you know how geographically-challenged we are, right?):

And finally, if you missed Dilbert today, you should go see it. It's a hoot and shouldn't be missed.

Yeah, great stuff for the weekend! Get out there and have a good time!
