Yet more bad press for Kansas and Kansans
The latest from The Daily Kos: Kansas legislature contemplates allowing (and requiring) doctors to lie to women. (link at bottom). The story: "The sweeping anti-abortion bill working its way through the Kansas Legislature would levy a sales tax on women seeking abortions, including rape victims." You know, it's one thing to believe in a cause and to believe in it deeply but there is a point at which doing things for your cause is going too far. In this case, going far too far. Heads up to Kansas Republican legislators: abortions are legal in the US. They have been since the 1970's. No one is crazy about them and yes, it would be better if there are less so a) why don't you promote "Plan B" or "morning after" pills so abortions can be utterly avoided and b) why don't you stop demagoguing this issue? Y'all are sick. Do good things for the state of Kansas. Promote jobs and improving the economy, for pity's sake. Stop being "Johnny-one-notes." You've done all you need to do on this one issue. Move on. Link: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/03/09/1072878/-Kansas-legislature-contemplates-allowing-and-requiring-doctors-to-lie-to-women?via=blog_1

Extremism, the new poltiical stance
John Cleese seems to be describing America here. Sad. We need to all calm down. That and work together. Remember when we were all Americans?

An encouraging political survey
Check out these results from a Pew Research Center survey (click for full view):If you examine all the groups, most say the Democrats are "more concerned with people like me", more say they think the Democrats can "bring about needed changes" and, finally--and perhaps most tellingly to me, more people believe the Republicans are "more extreme in their positions". It's enough to give a person hope, you know? Link: http://www.npr.org/2011/11/03/141984787/generation-gap-how-age-shapes-political-outlook?ft=1&f=1001

Quote of the day--on the Arizona tragedy
"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on this country is getting to be outrageous and unfortunately Arizona has become sort of the capital. We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry."
"It's not unusual for all public officials to get threats constantly, myself included. That's the sad thing about what's going on in America. Pretty soon we're not going to be able to find reasonable decent people willing to subject themselves to serve in public office.""People tend to poo-poo this business about all the vitriol that we hear inflaming the American people by people who make a living off doing that. That may be free speech, but it's not without consequences."
-- Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik

Michelle Malkin smart?
In response to SOJOCO's claim of how bright Michelle Malkin is. This is purely to give two sides to the coin, so to speak. (To be clear, I don't wish to get into a "pissing match", to use a crude euphimism, with SOJOCO or anyone else. As I said, I just want to give a 2nd side to a stand here).
See links--and proof--below:

It's just too easy, folks. She opens her mouth and out it comes.
Oh, and finally, I think Nicholas Kristof is the smart one here, hands down.
Again, have a great weekend.
