Best and Worst Run Cities? (are we on it?)

There's a list out today on Yahoo! News of "The 10 Best and Worst Run Cities" in the country. And great news! While we aren't on the "Best Run" list--don't make me laugh, right?--we aren't on the worst either. Hey, let's take it while we've got it, right? But poor St. Louis.
They hit number 7 on the worst list: "St. Louis has had a hard time controlling violent crime. With 17.47 incidents per 1,000 residents in 2010, the city has the second highest rate of violent crime in the country. This is due in part to the city’s high poverty rate of 27.8 percent and its median income of $32,688, which is the 10th lowest out of the 100 largest cities. Additionally, nearly 20 percent of housing units in the city are vacant. All of these measures influence government revenues. I want to make it clear we're not kicking a city when it's down, too. Check out what they say about their finances: "Despite this, St. Louis has managed its finances fairly well. While Moody’s credit score is AA3..." I don't know that we--Kansas City--can make such a credit claim. As usual, poor Detroit--they're no. 2 worst. Absolute worst? Miami. Best? Virginia Beach, Virginia. One last note--nearby neighbor Lincoln, Nebraska is rated number 5 on "Best run". Good on them. Maybe our city hall officials could learn some lessons from them? There's always hope.
