Someone please make him go away

Dear God, Clay Chastain has reared his ugly head yet again.

Holy cow.

What is it with this guy?

Can he not just go away?

Clearly this is the only town that will give him the attention he wants and clings to so dearly.

I think, if it weren't for the Kansas City Star and maybe local TV news stations, he might truly go away.

But here he comes again.

We need light rail, as a city and I'm all for it and it makes so much sense, even if gasoline is hovering a little over $2.00 per gallon but, geez, Clay Chastain?

It's clearly all about himself and not the rail.

Give us a break, Clay.

Go home.

Enjoy life.

Heck, get a life.

Get a hobby.

Do something but let Kansas City be Kansas City, right or wrong.

Give us a freaking break.

Take your ego and go home.

Permanently, this time.

Clay says that Sanders is going to help put the two plans together. Now he is saying that his plan will create jobs for Kansas City citizens. He has never bothered to look at the statistics of building a Light rail line in any other city, It is a major engineering event that results in most of the jobs going to the NATIONAL firms that are hired to put the system in. Very few jobs go to the citizens in the city. NOW streetcars on the other hand create a lot of local jobs, the train runs just as fast through traffic as Light Rail and the whole thing is cheaper. some cities actually pay as they go rather than buying bonds whioch can double the over all cost.

Hey, don't get me wrong--I'm all for light rail.

I agree with you that, as far as building it, the jobs usually go to national firms but we do have JE Dunn in town and they have many millions of dollars and tons of experience in construction, that's for sure. SOME local people would surely get work.

I don't know about statistics, truly, but in some cities, light rail makes a great deal of sense and does, in fact, work.

If you think about KC, a light rail system that first goes from Plaza to downtown, then later from downtown North to the airport and finally, from North to the South part of the city and, one day--a long time from now, admittedly--out from downtown to at least Olathe and again, from downtown East to at least Blue Springs makes a great deal of sense.

Have you seen the traffic from downtown, in the late afternoon, to Olathe? It's nuts. Loads of cars and only one person in each. That morning rush would make a great deal of sense.

The "starter line" from the Plaza to downtown would be a great way to get this going.

When we get gasoline back up to $3 and $4/gallon, it will look much more appealing, too.

If only Kansas Citians can and will open their minds.
