Republicans, swept into power, controlling all of Congress, now about to end Obamacare and supporting Russia's Vladimir Putin; know-nothing, emotional, insecure, vindictive Donald "The Chump" Trump wins the presidency; Right Wing, Eric "Pretty Boy" Greitens wins the Missouri Governor's office, still vowing and pressing to foist "Right to work" laws on Missourians so we can all work for less for the already-wealthy and corporations and they can further bust Unions and all the rest and now this.

I tell you, the world is coming apart.

It's all going to Hell.

The common denominator in all of it is money. We are drowning in money. We're being bought. And sold. All over. Politically and in all other ways. I need to write a book. It would be titled "Money and Capitalism Are Smothering America."

Three good things, anyway, about the Chiefs' loss yesterday

First, they only lost by 3 points. Second, they got into double-digit territory, finally, with their score in the game and third, finally, the other team didn't rack up 40 or more points on them this time, as they did in the first two games. Does ANYONE who likes and follows this team think they have a chance in their schedule the rest of the year? If there is, I surely don't know who that would be. For that matter, is there anyone in town who thinks they'll have the same coach next year? I'd nearly bet otherwise. Forbes' "Most Miserable Sports Cities": You knew Kansas City had to be on this one (updated)

Oh, yeah, you know Kansas City has to be on the list of Forbes Magazines "Most Miserable Sports Cities".


I'm just surprised--and pleased--we're not in the top 5.  (Or is that "bottom 5"?)

Admit it; just reading the words "Kansas City" induces glazed eyes and the sudden need for a nap. The NBA and NHL both skipped town, and the city's sports postseason history is mostly defined by George Brett's Royals falling just short against the Yankees. Kansas City built the Sprint Center, but no one has come.


At what point, I wonder, does David Glass care?


More to the point, at what point does David Glass REALLY push to win in the MLB and actually SPEND MONEY?

Someone needs to tell him about ROI.  Specifically, they need to tell him that the more you win, the more people show up for games and the  more tickets he sells and food gets bought and parking spaces paid for.


I liked the fan's sign from the "Number 8 worst" city, Cleveland, that said "We are sick of hoping for 'next year'."


Interestingly, here are those "top 5" Most Miserable Sports Cities in the US this year, as judged by Forbes Magazine:


The “top” five:

1. Seattle 
2. Atlanta 
3. Phoenix 
4. Buffalo 
5. San Diego 

So bad as it is sports-wise here in Kansas City, it could always be worse.

Let's hope we don't get there.

Good news/bad news, Kansas City

The good news first: our metropolitan area is going to get a LOT of national attention this Monday, when first the Kansas City Royals baseball team plays at the stadium at 2:10 against the Oakland A's (you know, the former Kansas City team). Go, Royals! Then, that will empty out at about, oh, RUSH HOUR, so, at 6:30 the gates at Arrowhead Stadium will open for a 9:15 kickoff for the Kansas City Chiefs football team can play the San Diego Chargers. Yowza. That's a wholelotta' sports, a wholelotta' national media attention and--bad news--a wholelotta' crazy automobile traffic on one side of town, all at about the same time. Guarantee: it's gonna' be some kind of crazy over there. Heads up, Kansas City--here it comes. With patience, we'll all do fine. (But guess who works out East, by the stadiums?
