The Iran we never see

It seems we always demonize enemies and supposed enemies. While clearly this video is created by a source with an agenda, they make a good point. I think when most of us Americans think of the nation Iran, we think desert and blown up buildings and their leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. We don't think of beautiful trains going through what looks like green forests. I think it's important to both point this out and see what more of this country and people are like so maybe, maybe, hopefully we don't do something paramountly stupid like attacking one more country.

Great play by Iran right now---and terrific irony

How's this for irony? (Which I've said here before, I love so much.) If it's real and sincere, it's as ironic as it gets: 'It's a sin': Iran calls on treaty to ban nuclear weapons What's great about this is, first, that Iran would be saying there needs to be a ban on nuclear weapons, just as the US is insisting they're trying to build them. Oh, and that we want to go in, "blow them up real good" (with thanks to SCTV) and keep them from building nuclear weapons because, well, you know, they're trying to. Secondly, the reason this is so grea--and ironic--is that they're not only saying there should be a ban on nuclear weapons but that--this is great, wait for it--"it's a sin"! They're using religion to say it's bad, too. Sure, it's that Muslim religion the Christians villify and look down their noses on but hey, it's still religion. It's still saying it goes against--ulp--God. They couldn't have come up with a better idea right now nor a better way to call us out on this if they tried. You have to hand it to them for this move. It's a beauty, and on at least 2 levels. They're obviously trying to beat us at our own game. Make that games. Link: http://rt.com/news/iran-nuclear-iaea-sin-421/

Sec. of Defense: Iran not developing nukes

From Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta himself: So if our own Secretary of Defense is certain Iran is not developing nuclear weapons, could we please not have any further talk of possible war with same said nation. Please? And while we're at it, would you get those 1,000 American soldiers--or CIA agents or whatever they are--out of Israel? Waiting for no other shoe to drop

News out today says Iran is injecting fuel into their first nuclear reactor:

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran began loading fuel into the core of its first atomic power plant on Tuesday, moving closer to the start up of a facility that leaders have touted as defying of international efforts to curtail the country's nuclear ambitions.

Hopefully Israel's calmer heads are prevailing and there's no plan to attack Iran because of this.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not on Iran's side or an Iranian supporter of any kind but a war between nations in the Middle East is the last thing the world needs, now or at any time, certainly.

Cross your fingers, folks.  Here's hoping there's no bombing of any kind.

Two things going this President's way

First this story, today on Yahoo! News: Ahmadinejad says Iran may end enrichment Iran would consider ending uranium enrichment, the most crucial part of its controversial nuclear activities, if world powers send Tehran nuclear fuel for a medical research reactor, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told reporters Friday. So that's good news. It's not a total answer and we're not there yet but it's a reaching out, so to speak, from them to the rest of the world. That and the Israelis and Palestinians are said to be close to working out a deal for peace, according to sources close the negotiations. At least that was what was said a few days ago. Right this minute the Israelis have to extend the halt to more settlements on the West Bank and that seems up in the air but we can hope. I'll say again, too, that if there is a true peace accord between the Israelis and Palestinians, look for President O to be up for another Nobel Peace Prize AND Man's "Person of the Year".
