Welcome to the official "campaign season"

As if we look forward to this, right? Here it is--campaign season. Now we get to look forward to a) ugly, relentless political campaign commercials--ugh--and b) we can anticipate getting virtually nothing done in political circles because it is campaign season. Finally, c) this campaign season, just for the Fall, November elections, will slide right into the 2012 political campaign season, in which REALLY NOTHING will get done, for the most part, for 2 years, except campaigning, posturing, back-biting and yet more ugliness. It's just not a pretty picture. This is no way to run a country.

On Moran and Tiahrt right now

Two recent news events occurred having to do with this senate race in Kansas that need to be noted. First, In their Republican primary campaigns for the U.S. Senate in Kansas, Jerry Moran raised nearly $90,000 more than Todd Tiahrt during the second quarter, according to a report filed this week with the Federal Election Commission. Moran also had nearly $1 million more in cash on hand than his congressional colleague at the end of the second quarter on June 30. So Jerry's kicking Todd's butt, money-wise. Secondly, Jerry Moran is still 14 points ahead of Todd T. in a very recent poll by SurveyUSA conducted for KWCH-TV in Wichita. Sure, Tiahrt gained a bit of ground but he's still pretty far back in popularity if we can trust this poll--and there's no reason to think otherwise. So, now, prediction: watch for the Tiahrt campaign to come out very ugly, very soon, and start attacking Jerry Moran even more, for not being "Conservative", Right wing and "Republican" enough. This political party has long been "eating its own young" and it will now continue here, more locally. Think you can criticize this President?

Before you criticize this President, consider this list of the current priorities and then YOU come up with solutions of things to oversee:

•The Koreas could be edging to war. The South accuses the North of sinking one of its warships.

•Israel’s prime minister visits the White House on Tuesday as Obama presses peace talks with the Palestinians.

•The terror threat isn’t going away, as seen by the recent failed car bombing in New York City.

•A international standoff with Iran over its nuclear program is hardening.

•The economic recovery doesn’t feel like much of one to the millions who are jobless.

•A sweeping overhaul of financial regulation hangs in the balance. The White House hopes Congress can finish it by July.

•The president needs Republican support of two big initiatives, energy and immigration, but has little to show so far.

•Senators begin hearings in late June on his nominee for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan.

•Fall elections are nearing, with Democrats facing losses and in need of campaign help from Obama.

And this is just the biggest of his priorities. There are far more, to be sure.
