And now, the way Senators in Washington wasted their/our time and money this past week

I pointed out here, earlier, the way our Missouri State legislators wasted their/our time and money this past week. Now, from Washington:

Senators Seek To Name Bison 'National Mammal'

We've got thousands of important--really important--things the Senate could and should be working on like, say, a budget we haven't had for three years but what are they working on, instead?

Why, what our "National Mammal" is.

We have a horribly broken health care system they're responsible for; we have corporations running over the nation, stealing from us, individually as well as collectively and all kinds of, as I said above, real problems but this is the kind of nonsense they spend their time on instead.

Really.

There is no shame.

"Community Meeting" online?

KCTV 5 had a news segment last evening, telling of a group that set up an online "Community Meeting" so people in the area can offer solutions on issues in the area (see link below). And this is all well and good but it seems there is one pre-eminent issue and that is the shootings and killings in the city. Apparently they're going to put up 6 issues per each time period and people can give input in the form of possible solutions, etc. It seems hopeful but again, unless and until this Mayor James and his staff and City Hall call the civic, business, church, community and social leaders together to address this big problem of these ignorant, senseless shootings and drive-by shootings, everything else is in the background. 2 HuffPo articles on the "Tea Party" and its lack of a future

The first headline: Lindsey Graham On Tea Party: 'Just Unsustainable,' No 'Coherent Vision,' Will 'Die Out' Here's hoping he's right. I believe he is. And a quote from the second by writer Richard Geldard: It is a misnomer to call the Tea Party a protest movement. It's just a bumper sticker movement spawned in irrational anger but without coherent protest. Genuine protest produces poetry, not slogans. And then, once it's dead, let's hope these people reclaim their mantlehood of and as Americans and they rejoin the rest of us--Conservatives, Libertarians and yes, even the Liberals, Leftists, Moderates and all others of various beliefs, colors, creeds and sexual orientations, and help us both define and then solve our problems.
