Republicans' Real "Cancel Culture"
Here it is, folks. In all its ugliness. (Click on picture for larger view, easier reading).

A Question for Missouri's Senator Josh Hawley
I ran across this article yesterday on Missouri Senator Josh Hawley's page on Facebook.
How many more side-stepping issues--like the NBA, first, and now abortion and women's rights, etc.--are you going to take up to avoid doing anything at all about the worst, most killing national and international pandemic in the last more than 100 years?
He's been harping on the NBA alone for weeks.
Even though he's supposed to be representing us, the people of Missouri, someone apparently never informed him Missouri has no NBA team.
Now he wants to attack women's rights, women's reproductive rights.
Clearly he needs to be schooled that this was settled by the US Supreme Court back in 1973.
Senator?
That pandemic?
Please?
Thanks, Republicans!
Thanks, Republicans!

100 Huge Years Ago Today--Celebrating Progress, Working for More
First, the good news.

Yes sir, 100 years ago today, June 4, 1919, the 19th Amendment, giving women of the United States the right to vote was passed. Great as that was, it's sad it had to take that long but at least they got it done.
Now the bad news.
Women still aren't equal. No way are they equal, as we know. Check out just some of the facts.
Women Still Don’t Make as Much Money as Men
And then there are Neanderthals out there in the world, still spewing this ugliness, inequity and nonsense like this. I found this today, accidentally, in a search.
Why Women Don’t Deserve Equal Pay
And this:
And this, from, of course, a Republican:
The entire Republican Party, supporting the already-wealthy and corporations, of course, not the people, have voted down equal pay for women and repeatedly. The following was from 2008.
This was from 2012.
This was 2014:
This took place this year.
Also this year. Not only are Republicans against women being paid fairly, justly and equally with men, they're also against keeping women safer.
So sure, let's celebrate this 100 year old breakthrough, sure, definitely.
But let's work to get more of them, needed ones, soon as possible.
It reminds me of the protest sign for women I saw some time ago.

So Proud of You, Kansas City
Yes sir, so proud of my now hometown.
That's you, Kansas City.
There was a rather hastily put-together protest and march today at the Country Club Plaza. It began at Mill Creek Park, went for a protest march around the Plaza and then back to the park for some speeches.
It was to protest for women's and abortion rights, rightly, after the nightmare week in Jefferson City on the part of yet more Right Wing, mostly all white, Republican men who voted to limit even the possibility of an abortion after 8 weeks of pregnancy.
Forget all the medical facts like how difficult it is to know a woman is actually pregnant in the first few weeks after conception and all the other facts. Yeah, forget all that. Forget that theirs is supposed to be a "small government" political party. Forget all that. They want to have that government come between the patient, the female patient and her doctor.
It's not quite as bad as Alabama's draconian law they passed this week but it's right up there.
So a protest was planned and executed today and it was a beauty. I knew I had to be there. It's estimated 4,000 people showed. And they were boisterous. Herewith, some photos from the day. It was wondrous.
Some of the posters were a bit more, uh, frank, shall we say?
As I said, it was a very good sized crowd. I think we were all very, very pleased with the turnout and energy.
Some people wrote on the sidewalks, too, for a protest that would last a bit longer than just the time we were there.
But again, facts and data and scientific studies mean little to these people. It's the same on this topic, abortion, as it is with guns and gun laws. Facts just don't matter.

Republican Party Song of the Day, Week, Month, Decade. Century?
That these Republicans today are outraged, OUTRAGED! at the treatment of this, their party's nominee for the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court, this Brett Kavanaugh, in these hearings when they didn't even allow---remember that--didn't even ALLOW hearings for the previous President's pick for the court is the epitome of chutzpah, irony and hypocrisy, all.
I thought Trump gaining the White House would be the worst that could and would happen.
I was wrong.
So deeply wrong.

What Canadians--and the World--Are Seeing Here In the US
I saw this today out on the interwebs. I couldn't confirm it's written by a Canadian but seriously, think about what they write. It seems a very real, fair and at least sad, if not ugly comment on America presently.
And he didn't even touch on shoveling yet more money to the already-wealthy and corporations while taking it from the middle- and lower-classes.
Again, thanks, Republicans!

Stupid State Republicans
Once again, a bunch of mostly all white, old men, Right Wingers, Republicans, all got together, in spite of their claims of being "small government" advocates and ruled one more time against women's and couple's individual reproductive rights. This time, it was out of our own Jefferson City.
And they spent yet more state money in special session to do it, "Conservatives" that they are.
Are the roads and bridges and highways and sewers and all our infrastructure fixed?
No!
Is I-70, from Illinois on the East, all through the state, to Kansas on the West, upgraded and improved and modernized and made safe?
Again, no.
Is our own Missouri Department of Transportation, MoDoT, fully funded and functioning?
Absolutely not.
But are women and couples' private, personal, again, reproductive rights yet more limited even though, as we know, abortion is legal and has been since 1973?
YES!!
And they spent yet more state money, that they say we don't have, to do it!
For them?
SUCCESS!
I've said it before but why any woman would vote Republican is beyond me. Far beyond me. Well, unless she's a Right Wing, "Christian", anti-abortion zealot, of course.
But then, why any Black person, Hispanic, Latino, gay, physically-challenged or elderly person would vote Republican also baffles me completely. (Unless that elderly person is already filthy, stinking rich, of course. Then I think they have to vote Republican, don't they? Isn't that a law?).
Keeping in mind, this is also the state political party that just voted lower wages for Missourians into law, too.
Yay, us.

Eric Greitens' and the Republicans' Missouri
With our new, "pretty boy" Governor Eric Greitens and his Republican pals in Jefferson City having had a special session so they could rule further on womens' and couples' reproductive rights---them with their "small government" and all---I thought of them with this video, rather naturally. How perfect.
They'll deny any of it if they recognize themselves in any way.
Pitiful.
Pathetic.
Painful.
Sexist.
Pretty fascist, too, really.

"Small Government", Republican, Right Wing Governor Goes After State's Women
Here we go again.
Yet one more Right Winger, another Republican who runs and ran on the promise of "small government" and lower spending but what's he do?
Stacey Newman: Estimated $160,000 being spent on Governor's special anti-abortion session
A bit from the article:
UP TO DAY SIX - GOVERNOR'S SPECIAL SESSION ON ABORTION
$20,000 per day of your taxpayer dollars in order to a) repeal the St. Louis City reproductive anti-discrimination ordinance (how on earth does that affect any other community?) and b) pass more unconstitutional restrictions on abortion providers.
So, first, he wants to legislate still further on and about women and women's reproductive rights. It's typical very Right Wing behavior, certainly, but that doesn't make it any less repulsive or hypocritical.
"Small government"? Governor Greitens wants it so small it reaches into Missouri's womens' and couples' private, reproductive lives. That's how "small" they want their government.
And never forget, never forget, the procedure they're wasting all this time and energy and our tax money on is a very legal one. It's been legal since 1973, famously.
Someone needs to remind this guy and all his fellow Republicans of what has now become a cliche' seen all over the internet and that is that Roe v Wade wasn't the start of abortions in America.
It was the end of women dying by them.
Meanwhile, I-70 is an ignored mess that needs updating and modernizing and repairing and hopefully, one day soon, maybe widening so we're all safer out there and maybe we can do more business, more commerce and more pleasure travel, thereby creating more jobs, too.
You think maybe they could work on that or one of the other many and very important issues before the state?
Here's hoping.

Hate Liberals?
Is that you?
You hate "libruls"?
They're--we're--libtards?
Really?
"Liberals got women the right to vote.
Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote.
Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty.
Liberals ended segregation.
Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act.
Liberals created Medicare.
Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act.
What did Conservatives do?
They opposed them on every one of those things...every one!
So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, 'Liberal,' as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won't work, Senator, because I will pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge of honor."
--Matt Santos, character in The West Wing

Conservatives, also, under the George W. Bush administration, got us into two, count 'em, two wars and crashed the economy, too, by the way. And by economy, I don't just mean the US, national economy, I mean the world economy. There was very nearly a global, economic meltdown.
More.

They, Liberals, are for the people, first and foremost.

Only One Candidate for President is Talking Issues and Solutions
That's right. Only one candidate for President right now for our 2016 election is talking America's issues and problems---and solutions.
The Republicans have all these candidates:
And of all of them, all they can talk about is something they want to complain about Hillary Clinton or something they want us to believe about her. Or they want to talk about how gays and/or same sex marriage is going to undo American civilization. Or they want to make yet one more piece of legislation curbing women's otherwise very private and personal reproductive choices, all in the hopes of reducing the number of abortions in the nation. Forget that they're for "small government." They want Uncle Sam to reach into the most private decisions and areas of a woman's and couple's life.
And then there's Hillary Clinton who isn't answering many questions lately. She did reach out and answer some, finally, this week, God bless her. Not much but we'll take it. Because we have to.
So in the meantime? Of all the current candidates for president of the United States of America in the 2016 race, who's the one candidate bringing up America's problems---and offering solutions??
The one person?
Look no further than one Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
A possible new ground war with Iraq?
Senator Sanders has made statements on it--public statements.
Taxes, tax issues and fairness?
Senator Sanders has covered it.
Tax breaks for billionaires?
Covered.
Wealth inequality?
Health care in America?
The Patriot Acts and the NSA spying?
Pollution in our environment?
Our colleges and higher education?
All covered by Senator Sanders, Bernie as he's known.
That and a lot more.
So if you--we--really want a candidate who's serious about America's problems and the solutions for them, maybe go to the person who's asking the questions and offering solutions to the REAL issues of the day.
Yes, that would be one Senator Bernie Sanders, candidate for US president, 2016.
