What a Fine Company, That Amazon!

Yessirree, Bob! That Amazon! What a fantastic, upstanding company, eh? Just doing great work out there for us all. So what if it's owner, Jeff Bezos is worth somewhere closely around 200 billion dollars! So what if, one day last year, his net worth went UP 13 billion dollars in one day! Forget all that! They're doing great work for us and for their employees both. Why, just look at the latest news!


For starters, this broke today:


Amazon Inc. agreed to pay more than $61.7 million to settle allegations it cheated Amazon Flex drivers out of nearly one-third of tips from customers for more than two years. The money paid to the Federal Trade Commission will be used to compensate drivers. The FTC said Amazon in 2015 advertised that a program called Flex would pay drivers $18 to $25 an hour to make deliveries and that they would receive 100% of any tips. But in late 2016 Amazon “secretly reduced its own contribution to drivers’ pay,” according to the FTC complaint.

And Unions? Why, of course with all the money the company and Mr. Bezos are making, they have no problem whatever that Amazon employees have great employment representation! Right??


And with all that money Mr. Bezos makes, why, of course he gives his employees the best, fullest benefits!

And working conditions for the employees?? Why, don't even ask! They're the best! The best!






SO WHAT if they also pay ZERO TAXES!


I'm just SO VERY GLAD we've gotten FAR BEYOND the sweat shops and robber barons of 100 years ago, aren't you? Further proof, of course, that, as the Republicans and Right Wingers and Libertarians say, we no way need government regulations over business and industry! Why, everything's working just as it ought! To EVERYONE'S BENEFIT!

So, sure! That Amazon! What a great, great company! So who cares if Mr. Bezos is a multi- multi-billionaire 200 times over! Everything is great at that company!

Only 5 More Days of this Orange Mess of a President

Only 5 more days to tolerate this orange President and his administration, thank goodness. And in the midst of all this, everything around him is falling apart, virtually, if not actually. 


Here's how things stand for Republican Party President and soon to be regular citizen Donald J Trump now.
  • He was just impeached for the 2nd time in your Presidency, a first in your nation's history
  • He must vacate that same Presidency in 5 days
  • States are cancelling multi-million dollar contracts with his companies
  • Corporations and businesses are cancelling financial aid and any other support to and for him
  • He has hundreds of millions of dollars in loans coming due in months to come and finally,
  • He has been cut off from virtually all meaningful social media because of his personal opinions and announcements in the last months

Pew's last poll of his presidency is also Trump's worst. They show his approval rating at  29 percent. A great deal of us out here don't think it should even be that high, of course. And while he is at his lowest popularity, most Americans want him held accountable.


Here's what they're saying about him across the pond in Ireland presently.


It seems his taxes are not just being investigated for his taxes and any problems in 2 New York State cases but also in both Ireland and Scotland. On top of it, Scotland has made clear Trump is not welcome.


Imagine that, please. A former US President declared not welcome in another, foreign nation that is an ally. Again, unprecedented in our nation's history. He's becoming a sort of, if not actual, man without a country.

Then, this is what's happening just now with his attorney.


Meanwhile, this is where we stand today on this very killing pandemic for which we are leaderless, of couse.

CDC projecting over 90,000 deaths within the next 3 weeks due to this pandemic. Then check out this fact breaking today: the United States, with about 4% of the world's population, has reported about one-fifth of all reported deaths globally.

With these last few days pending, it's the power he still has that is so very concerning.
There is at least one silver lining to Donald Trump's complete paths of destruction, I think and that's this.

I intend to make the following true the rest of my long, healthy, happy life, long as I'm alive.


I wasn’t sure how, exactly, we would get here, but this is exactly what I expected after 4 years of Trump being in office.

I will say this finally today, I no way thought Republicans would do worse than Nixon, and a LOT worse, at that, in my lifetime. But they did. And did they ever.
Fortunately, this afternoon, on a different story, there is this breaking just now.

NRA declares bankruptcy


My God, that is magnificent. So for 2021, we will have gained a vaccine, lost a killing pandemic, gotten  rid of an orange excuse and nightmare of a President and the NRA declared bankruptcy!!

This Republican Party President is Having Another Meltdown Today

Yes, here we go again. This Republican Party President Trump is, one more time, having a social media meltdown. This morning:


He started with this about an hour ago.
MOST CORRUPT ELECTION IN U.S. HISTORY!

Then went to this, minutes later.

THE BIGGEST WINNER OF OUR NEW DEFENSE BILL IS CHINA!. I WILL VETO!

It's getting, it's gotten old. It's tiresome. For and to his supporters, it's dangerous. He's still, still trying to overturn our vote, our votes, our election and to attack our Democracy. Sadly, unfortunately, it has lead to this.

It's reckless, it's dangerous, it's deeply irresponsible. 

Added to this, the following shows where we are just now.

...the American coronavirus pandemic is entering its worst stage yet, with cases and deaths skyrocketing across the country. Last Thursday saw over 3,000 deaths — more than 9/11 or Pearl Harbor — and with ICU beds at or near capacity in most of the country, absent serious change it is possible there will be double or even triple that number per day in a matter of weeks. We may yet top the deadliest day in American history, the Galveston hurricane of 1900 that killed an estimated 8,000 people, very soon. President Trump is doing precisely nothing about this.

As we know, the Supreme Court, at long last, shot down Trump's and the Republicans' attempt out of Texas to overturn our election and votes. Tomorrow, Monday, the Electoral College will release their offficial election results, confirming, again, that Joe Biden won and is President-Elect and that--wait for it--Donald Trump lost. 

Sure, it's been a bad, 4 day weekend for the Donald but using his own words, "It is what it is." It's the reality. We voted him out. We desperately need to get fellow Republicans to talk this, their President down off his ledge and to, at long last, concede.

This President and His Supporters Have Become Dangerous

 I mean every word of that headline of this article. This President has gotten dangerous. Here's how.

‘Stop The Steal’ Rallies Now Feature ‘Lock Him Up!’ Chants Aimed At Georgia Guv Brian Kemp

This is outrageous. Some of the article:

The pro-Trump attorney Lin Wood proclaimed near the end of a “Stop The Steal” rally in Georgia Wednesday that he had seen the “real” results of the 2020 election.

“He won over 410 electoral votes,” Wood said, referring to President Donald Trump. “He damn near won every state including California!”

That about summed up the day’s proceedings. Wood and co-counsel Sidney Powell — formerly of the President’s campaign, now leading a bustling fundraising-based legal effort to somehow deliver Trump a second term — riled up the crowd with tempting promises that Trump would, indeed, remain President on Jan. 20.

The pair trotted out the same old nonsense they’ve been riding for weeks in light of Joe Biden’s electoral victory: The communists have infiltrated America’s election infrastructure! They’ve bought off Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State!

The effort has never been legally rigorous: Powell and Wood’s filings have included clumsy typos and embarrassing errors; a recent federal suit to overturn the results in Wisconsin, for example, sought video footage from the TCF Center… which is in Detroit, Michigan.

But even now, the movement appears to be growing more aggressive.

Wood and the recently pardoned former national security adviser Michael Flynn, for example, called on the President to declare martial law Tuesday over the supposedly stolen election. Powell has boosted calls for Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act.

On Wednesday, at least one person in attendance carried an actual pitchfork. Wood, rallying the crowd, seethed at outsiders.

“We’re not going to vote on your damn machines made in China,” he said at one point.

“Get out of our country, George Soros!” he yelled separately of the American citizen and Jewish bogeyman for the right.

The pair even turned on Republicans deemed insufficiently fervent in supporting Donald Trump’s inevitable second term. “Lock him up!” Wood said of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R).

Forget, ignore this, the facts--


Fortunately, going back to that first, original article I posted above, the following may well take place.

Both attorneys on stage agreed that voters should not participate in the upcoming runoff elections for U.S. Senate in Georgia — at least, not on communist-controlled voting machines. That dynamic threatens the Republicans’ chances for both Senate seats.

If they, Republicans in Georgia, don't vote---God love 'em---it's more likely the Democrats' candidates for the Georgia Senates seat would get put in, they'd win, of course.

Wouldn't that just be a dang shame?

What isn't reckless to the point of, again, dangerous and frightening could be to love about these irrational knuckleheads. If you go to Trump's Facebook page, there are all kinds of people on there, all excited and ginned up about seeing him get this election, in spite of his decisive loss across the states, across the  nation.

For now, we need to get this President to concede, first, and then have all his other fellow Republicans stop ginning up their followers.

These people all need to figuratively come down off the edge. They all need to calm down, get rational and accept this President Trump's defeat in our election. They need to stop referring to their guns and whatever other insanities they might threaten or dream up.

And their leader in all this, their President, needs to get them there.

How does it feel, ladies and gentlemen, America, to be going into day 10 of vote, voter and election denial by this Republican Party President Trump? I feel like our Democracy has been and is being violated, personally. Meanwhile, more good developments on this issue today.

Top Officials: Nov. 3 Election Most Secure in US History

A coalition of federal and state officials say they have no evidence that votes were compromised or altered in last week’s presidential election, rejecting unsubstantiated claims of widespread fraud advanced by President Donald Trump and many of his supporters.

Election security officials: 'No evidence voting systems compromised'

A few Republicans have spoken up on this election, too, thankfully. Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan responds to Pres. Donald J. Trump's remarks: "There is no defense for the President’s comments tonight undermining our Democratic process."


Even some of Trump's biggest supporters are urging him, wisely, to concede.


Then they realized their lawsuit in Arizona is so empty, they dropped it. This report is today.


And besides Arizona, Trump's major law firm in Pennsylvania is dropping him and this effort, too.


Porter Wright said in a court filing that it would no longer represent the campaign in a federal lawsuit alleging widespread voter irregularities.

Check this out. Even Trump's own, our own Department of Homeland Security says Trump should concede and that our election was fair.


Meanwhile, the orange man in the White House is laying unusually low and keeping quiet, a low profile.


President Donald Trump hasn't publicly spoken for a week, outside of written remarks issued via Twitter. He last spoke publicly on November 5 in a White House press briefing in which he proclaimed that he won the election, made allegations of widespread voter fraud and then retreated without taking any questions from the press.

Though Trump hasn't spoken publicly since then, he did appear for about 10 minutes on Wednesday at the Arlington National Cemetery for a ceremony observing Veterans Day. He made no statements at the time.

And with that Twitter feed, this. Him and their false reality.


So this is what we've now devolved to with this President.


On Thursday, six American service members were killed in a helicopter crash during a peacekeeping mission in Egypt. Tropical Storm Eta made landfall in North Florida, contributing to severe flooding. The number of Americans infected with the novel coronavirus continued at a record-setting pace, sending the stock market tumbling.

At the White House, President Trump spent the day as he has most others this week — sequestered from public view, tweeting grievances, falsehoods and misinformation about the election results and about Fox News’s coverage of him.

Neither he nor his aides briefed reporters on the news of the day or reacted to Democratic leaders who accused Republicans of imperiling the pandemic response by “refusing to accept reality” over the election results.

More and more data keep coming out about the election too, naturally.


It's just not going well for the Trumpster. Not that it should.


At this point, though it seems clear, unfortunately, that no one is at the helm of our ship of state, so to speak, presently. Isn't that terrific? We're in, again, the worst, most deadly, killing international pandemic in the last more than 100 years and we are virtually, if not even actually, leaderless. And then, on top of that, we're in this state because he, this Republican Party President, doesn't want to recognize our vote, our votes, our election and/or our Democracy.

While the Orange Man digs in his heels, there's some progress in all this.


Meanwhile, the rest of the world is still going forward.

China Congratulates Biden on Presidential Victory


The good news, of course, is that America woke up and voted him, Trump, out. The bad news is, besides this pandemic that's haunting, killing us now, is the work that lies before us.


...Trump is attacking, defaming and delegitimizing U.S. elections in a manner unprecedented in the country’s history. His obstructionism won’t keep him in power, but it will deeply wound America’s democratic culture. He is whipping his base into a frenzy about a stolen election, and few of them are going to change their minds because of court decisions and recounts. The conspiracy theory of the stolen election of 2020 is here to stay.

That's troubling to the point of frightening, honestly.

For now, all we can do is push for this man Trump to accept reality and recognize our vote, our votes, our election and our Democracy as I keep saying.  67 days to inauguration.  Let's do this, America.

Lots of Big News This Morning

 Yes, lots of breaking news today. Lots of good, it seems and yes, some bad.  First the good.  If not even great.

Pfizer says virus vaccine 90% effective


Fantastic great news. Very hopeful for us all.

And that got us this.


With that great news on a possible vaccine, the markets went nuts. All time highs. Excellent. (Thank goodness it didn't come out last Monday, huh?).  

And then the bad news. This just broke in the last hour.


I swear these people don't learn. Incredible. With any other administration, this would be unbelievable. And I don't know what's more ironic, that he's a doctor or that he apparently contracted this COVID from a White House election party, given the now known results. Wow.

Then there's this.  It's not bad enough he won't recognize our vote, our votes and our election. It's not bad enough he won't man up, be an adult, a responsible adult---for the first time in his long life--no. 


No, that's not enough or bad enough. Now he also, along with all that, says he wants to have "recount rallies" across the nation. Terrific.  Not only deny our election and the results but have yet more pandemic superspreading events, just when we're hitting every higher highs in COVID cases. Sure, why not, right? Why should this man or his administration make sense NOW?

Unfortunately, there's yet more bad news from this President and his White House today, however.


This administration hasn't been enough of a revolving door, the President had to add yet more to it. Worse than firing him in these, the last 72 days of this administration, he had to also do it as the coward he is.


This horrible and sad news hit yesterday.


To maybe try to lift us back up and give us a bit of encouragement today from the Republicans, there's this.


I saw where son in law Jared Kushner had advised Trump to accept the election. Now this.


This, however, is starting to make me mad.


A Trump-appointed government official currently holds the power to release $9.9 million of 
federal funding and access to a plethora of government information for President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team, which is already at work.

But the official is not opening the door just yet — citing an ambiguity about the election results advanced by the Trump administration.

A spokesperson for the General Services Administration says Emily Murphy, the GSA administrator, hasn't signed off on the transition yet because she's waiting for an “ascertainment” about who officially won the 2020 presidential election, which President Donald Trump is contesting without evidence.

it's one thing for the Trumpster to deny reality. It's a whole 'nother thing for even one of them to start blocking this transition.

And as expected and thought.

A businessman-president transplanted favor-seeking in Washington to his family’s hotels and resorts — and earned millions as a gatekeeper to his own administration.

Donald Trump can no way "drain the swamp." Donald Trump IS the swamp. And he's shattering the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution. We've never had a President that was so much for sale. Our government has never been so much for sale as under this Republican Party President Donald J Trump.

And check out this little beauty, too, that broke this weekend.


The Taliban announced they support this Republican Party President Donald J Trump for reelection.  Fantastic. I love it! And why wouldn't we? Thanks, fellas! Perfect timing, too. And thanks, Republicans. As I keep saying out here, that's quite the guy you got there and quite the guy you foisted on us all, on the nation.

This is what he did earlier this week, too.


President Trump took a step even Richard M. Nixon avoided in his most desperate days: openly ordering direct, immediate government action against specific opponents, timed to serve his re-election campaign.

The thing is, too, first, he doesn't even know he's doing it and second, he doesn't know how or whythis is even wrong.

Meanwhile, here we are nationally.

Quote of the Day -- Self-involved, Narcissist Edition

Trump looked so small today from inside the cocoon of his armored Presidential limo. Yesterday, the WH gaslighted America with two photo ops taken moments apart and with Trumps dramatic live signing of blank paper. Today, though, America witnessed the “Ride to Nowhere." It was an exquisite metaphor for the end of Trump’s Presidency.

Slow moving and pointless, the motorcade enthralled the Q-Anon conspiracy nuts who gathered outside the hospital hoping Trump would give them another clue about his smashing the Pedophile ring that is running America.

Inside the limo were agents of the Secret Service who would jump in front of a bullet for the President and his family but weren’t worthy of any consideration by Trump. It was a parade of one for an audience of one. It was a slow rolling celebration of selfishness and malfeasance.

Trump couldn’t be bothered to make any comment about the 200,000th dead American but today, because he has become infected, he decided to give the nation a Presidential funeral procession. It took the purposeless form of a slow rolling meander around Walter Reed.

Trump waved at the gathered Q-Anon conspiracy loons and demonstrated through his clinical neediness his profound unfitness for command. Trump’s recklessness is responsible for his infection and many others. Trump’s lying has killed over 150,000 Americans who would not have died otherwise.

Hundreds of thousands more will die. Why did it happen? How did it happen? Watch the video of the malignant buffoon in the back seat of the Presidential Suburban. It will explain a lot.

We Have a Dream, America

Martin Luther King, Jr's full "I Have a Dream" Speech, given this day, August 28, 1963. 

Still unfulfilled today, America.

In fact, far, far from realized.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself in exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked insufficient funds.

But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. 1963 is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: in the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny, and they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating for whites only. We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification," one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day, this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning: "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring!"

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania. Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado. Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California. But not only that: Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia. Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee. Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
