Not Just Impeachment--Five Big Takeaways From This Week

Yes sir and ma'am, it certainly was a big, big week here in America, politically, historically, everything. And for me, besides or rather, along with the impeachment, there were 3 more things that were either announced or that took place this week that I think should be noted and taken away from it all. They tell a bit better just where we are presently.

First, we impeached a President, of course. And for only the third time. That's pretty big in and of itself.

Second, a group of people from the President's own political party created a political action committee, a PAC, to make sure he doesn't get re-elected next November. That is, if he makes it that far in this Presidency.

We Are Republicans, and We Want Trump Defeated

Additionally, fourth, the uber conservative magazine originally begun by none other than William F. Buckley, his National Review, even they came out for impeachment of this Republican Party President.

Third, none other than Russian Premier Vladimir Putin came out in support of his buddy and pal Donald Trump.

Putin Criticizes Democrats for Impeaching Trump

Russian leader dismisses the impeachment in Washington as political theater

This came very shortly after the impeachment vote in the House this week. It's like old Vlad is doing our work for us. Fantastic.

Fifth and finally today, after this tumultuous, historical week, even the Evangelical magazine first begun by televangelist Billy Graham came out publicly for this Republican Party President.

I actually hope, think and believe this op/ed writer has it correct, too.

Yes, it was quite a week for us, America.  Since the 2016 election campaign for the Presidency, I've said nothing is or has been predictable. This is more of that. No one can say where we'll go next or what we'll happen.

Happy New Year, everyone.

A Big Day, Where We Are Now and Where Will We Go?

‘A Warning’: Trump Is Stupid, Crazy and Dangerous

First, let's just say folks, today, that, not only was Republican party President Donald Trump impeached, ladies and gentlemen, but he was impeached bigly.

Yes sir and ma'am, he certainly does things "the best" as he promised he would. So much winning.

But let's be clear on this--

Meanwhile, lots of us now know Mr. Trump can, will and does go ever lower. He said this last night at his political campaign rally.

He is stunning in his insensitivity, as he's shown in the past and repeatedly and now this. This is Rep. Dingell's and her family's first holiday season without their husband/father. It's just a matter of new lows for Mr. Trump.

Then, as if Trump and the Republicans aren't all bad enough and in enough of a bad situation, they got this support overnight.

Russia's Vladimir Putin is practically, virtually making the Democrats' case for them here. Again. Stunning. You'd think President Trump and the Republicans would ask their buddy over there in Russia to clam up but hey, he's doing the Democrats' work them them. Thanks, Vlad, buddy!

This, however, is a disheartening, if not depressing thought.

Fortunately, from the same article here, just above, is this: "The House vote, however, largely mirrored what Americans in those districts would have wanted."

Then there is the letter Mr. Trump sent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a few days ago, just before the impeachment vote in the House.

Meanwhile, today, Senator Schumer--and lots of us--have a question for Mitch McConnell and, yes, this President.

Eric Swalwell, admittedly a Democrat, from California, makes an excellent point.

As for going forward, few days ago, famous Watergate attorney John Dean had what looks to be sage advice to and for Speaker Pelosi and the House after this impeachment.

He's saying that since Senator Mitch McConnell has publicly said and declared he fully intends to work only with the President himself and his staff and attorneys on this impeachment.

He's come to the conclusion, ahead of the trial, ahead of the evidence and facts, that this President is already innocent. To heck with the trial, the facts, the evidence---heck, to heck with the Constitution, nation and people. Full steam ahead!

I think Mr. Dean is correct. Hold the impeachment in the House from now until next November. Then, keep investigating. Keep getting yet more facts and information as it will inevitably come out. Let this President prove himself guilty as he most surely, clumsily, ignorantly will. It looks, rather hopefully, that Speaker Pelosi is taking that position, too, at least for now.

What far too many Americans don't know is that the Republicans ending, killing the Fairness Doctrine in our government is what brought us to this hyper-partisan point in our nation, pitting Left vs. Right, Democrat vs. Republican. It was after Right Wing media like Fox was allowed to exist, we began having very slanted, one-sided, very ugly reporting in media, frequently filled not just with bias but with out and out untruths, misrepresentations and, honestly, lies.

What stuns and even frightens me is the ability of too many Republicans and Trump-supporters to blindly follow all things Republican and/or all things Trumpian.  Blindly. It is very concerning.

Anyway, here we are today. The third President of the United States has been impeached in our history.

Wither now, America?

The Many Dangers of Donald Trump

What we have is a problem, a person, who attacks or wants to attack virtually anything and everything--all institutions, virtually all nations, including our allies, everyone and everything, as i said except some dictators like Russia's Vladimir Putin, North Korea's Kim Jong Un and the Philippines' Duterte.

This article, coincidentally, just broke yesterday from Bloomberg.

Trump Continues Destruction of the U.S. Government

Think about it. Think about all the people and organizations and nations this man, this Republican President has verbally attacked. The list is stunning.

Image result for trump attacks
  • Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and that simply because she doesn't agree with him completely, as he attacks everyone who doesn't
  • Robert Mueller, a Republican, simply because he, Mr. Mueller, was doing his job
  • "The Squad", four Congresswomen who happen to also be of minorities (besides just also being women) because, again, they disagree with him
  • Member of the House of Representatives Frederica Wilson, D-Florida, because her recollection and description of a meeting and conversation with a widow of a fallen US soldier
  • He famously and horribly attacks the media and repeatedly, First Amendment be damned
  • In fact, he infamously attacked a reporter with a disability (see link to video below)
  • China, and repeatedly, over trade, keeping in mind they are one of our two largest trading partners, second only to the UK
  • Members of NATO, our allies
  • the G20, again, our allies
  • The UK's Prime Minister Theresa May, one of our biggest and oldest allies
  • Fox News. Yes, he even attacked Fox. They didn't agree with him totally so he went after even that lapdog of his
The New York Times rather famously compiled this list. Because it's now dated, it's no longer complete.

Here's what just one of the results of his attacks has resulted in and cost the nation.

So, questions.

WHO DOES THIS?

I mean, besides a 3 year old, who does this?

Worse, what leader of any nation does this? And can you believe this is OUR leader? Or at least, he's supposed to be.

And then, how do you lead by attacking all the time? And how does one lead by attacking virtually everyone that doesn't already agree with you completely?

How is this productive?

How is this good for the nation? Good for the people? Good for our futures, both the peoples' and nation's?

If this were the average person on the street, if it were, say, someone at our office we were supposed to work with, we'd certainly avoid them, at least, if we didn't also think they were crazy, legitimately.

Then, how is this good for our nation? It can't possibly be argued it's good for us in any way.

I ask again, now, as others have rightly asked, what kind of a precedent is this for our nation and for our government? There's no way this is good.

All I can say is, as ever in the last two years of this nightmare,

THANKS, REPUBLICANS!

Bad as all this is, as bad a President and leader as this man has been, this is what concerns me most.

Vote, folks.

And may God, if there is one, and common sense and logic and intelligence and education and maturity and anything and everything good, one day rule again.

And very soon.

Entertainment Overnight -- Donald Trump Version

Big man, pig man
Ha, ha, charade you are
You well heeled big wheel
Ha, ha, charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
Saying 'Keep on digging'
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find
Down in the pig mine?
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry

Bus stop rat bag
Ha, ha, charade you are
You f*cked up old hag
Ha, ha, charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost worth a quick grin
You like the feel of steel
You're hot stuff with a hatpin
And good fun with a hand gun
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry

Hey you, Whitehouse
Ha, ha, charade you are
You house proud town mouse
Ha, ha, charade you are
You're trying to keep our feelings off the street
You're nearly a real treat
All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?
You got to stem the evil tide
And keep it all on the inside
Mary you're nearly a treat
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry

I Have Great Neighbors

Check that out.

I've no idea who they are and they don't know me but these are some great neighbors, that's all I can say.

Smart. Educated. Intelligent.

Heck, I bet they're even good-looking.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.

Donald Trump and His Very Bizarre Treatment of the G-7 Meeting

Breaking news this morning, again, on this President Donald John Trump and his antics.

Image result for stupid trump

First this, the coward leaves the G7 Summit early.

Trump to leave G7 summit early amid feud with world leaders,

calls Trudeau 'so indignant'

He clearly resents Canada's Trudeau being "indignant." Yeah, imagine that. The Orange One chooses to arbitrarily, out of the blue, raise tariffs on products on an ally and neighbor, Trudeau's nation, and he's surprised he, Trudeau, is upset. In this case, Trudeau's being indignant is an extremely natural result and outcome of his, Trump's, actions.

And then, the second headline today due to The Orange One, is this.

Trump says Russia should be at G7 meeting

Just who, exactly, is this Donald Trump working for, anyway?

It seems he doesn't know Russia's Vladimir Putin sees himself as our own, sworn national enemy and would like nothing better than for us to fail at any and every endeavor we undertake. This seems to be yet more evidence of this Republican Party President not knowing any national and/or international history whatever.

Republicans. Really. Seriously. Could you please, please reign in this idiot, this dolt of yours?

Please?

Doesn't It Look As Though This President Takes His Orders Very Well?

Image result for trump putin

I ask you...

Take a look at these two headlines. First, there's this:

Russia Tells U.S. Military to Get Out of Syria

- Newsweek

Then, shortly thereafter, this very week, there is this:

I ask you, does that not look, appear as though this President takes his orders seriously and well?

Now Look Who Says This President Is An Actual Threat to National Security

Image result for treasonous trump

A retired four-star Army general said that he believes that President Trump is a “serious threat to US national security.”

Retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey tweeted Friday that he reached the conclusion about Trump because the president “is refusing to protect vital US interests from active Russian attacks.”

“It is apparent that he is for some unknown reason under the sway of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin,” he added.

It's not MSNBC. It's not one of the three networks. It's not "Left Wing" or Liberal (librul) or Democrat or anyone else.

At what point are we collectively concerned?

Who has to point out how wrong this man, this President, is until we believe them and do something about him and so, our situation, our national situation?

At what point do we do something?

The FBI and CIA and Robert Mueller are all investigating if there was collusion between Russia and this President, to get him elected, as we know. Heck, more than one source has said there was collusion already, given the evidence.

How soon, America?

Who, Exactly, Is President Trump Tryng to Protect?

This happened yesterday, last evening.

Rex Tillerson condemns Russia

for UK nerve agent attack

So what did Trump do today? What did he tweet within the last 2 hours?

Image result for stupid trump

Is our President, Donald J Trump, protecting or trying to protect Russia, ladies and gentlemen? Or someone in it?

Let's ignore that he fired yet one more person of the highest rank in his own administration and by tweet, no less, the coward.

Who, really, is this Republican President working for?

Again, who is he trying to protect?

What Kills Me About Republicans, This President and His Supporters

Think about this. I know I have and for a long time. I saw this as a Facebook post today then found it's original source as a tweet from one Dan Pfeiffer, a former Obama staffer in the White House.

It is worth noting that the Russians believed that the best way to damage America was help elect Donald Trump.

I only wish Republicans and all Trump supporters could and would wrap their minds around this. How proud and happy can a person be if the Russians, of all people, wanted to make sure YOUR CANDIDATE wins the election?

From The New York Times:

"The indictment presented in astonishing detail a carefully planned, 3-year Russian scheme to incite political discord in the U.S., damage Hillary Clinton's campaign and promote Donald J. Trump.:

And the Washington Post:

Trump's Russia 'hoax' turns out to be real

"Trump’s own Justice Department has concluded otherwise. A 37-page federal indictment released Friday afternoon spells out in exhaustive detail a three-year Russian plot to disrupt America’s democracy and boost Trump’s campaign, dealing a fatal blow to one of the president’s favorite talking points."

Businessman In Chief?

If the following poster is true, if all true, this is where it starts getting, first, very dangerous for the nation, honestly and second, crystal clear that this Trump Administration is all just a big business deal for him and his cronies.

I'm hoping this is all cynical and untrue but I have my concerns it isn't. The Donald is and always has been very much a businessman first and last, through and through, his entire life, as we all know.

How Bizarre the Trump Pre-Presidency Already Is

Check this out.

Donald Trump isn't even president yet, isn't yet sworn in, he's still only president-elect and already, his presidency just keeps getting more and more bizarre.

Already, he's thrown a broadside at China--twice, and now this. The following is absolutely what has already taken place, in the last few days.

Image may contain: 1 person , text

Really.

God help us, folks. God forgive his voters, his supporters and God and the Heavens above help the rest of us.

Quotes of the Day, Donald Trump Edition

"A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool." --William Shakespeare

"A wise man knows he knows nothing."    --Socrates

Donald Trump says he doesn't need intelligence briefings

The actual quote is that he says he doesn't need daily intelligence briefings because--his words--he's "...like, a smart guy."

Fact is, he's not even LIKE a smart guy.

If you're Vladimir Putin, wouldn't YOU want this guy as your opponent?

An Open Letter To Those Who Voted For Trump (Guest Post)

From the Los Angeles Times.

Dear Person Whose Voice Was Heard:

Well, you got your way. The people have spoken. And your guy won. I mean, he won by attracting support from well below half of those who actually voted — long live the electoral college — but still. A win is a win. No shutting down of a freeway in protest is gonna change that. So congratulations.

I have never been more wrong in my life than I was in predicting this election. I didn't think there was a chance in holy heck that Donald Trump could actually become president of the United States. Life will surprise you, though rarely like this.

It will probably come as little shock that I'm pretty upset about this whole thing. Actually, crushingly depressed is a better way to describe it. You know, I'm one of those arrogant liberal elites blinded inside my blue bubble who likes my presidents classy and competent. Crazy, right?

But I digress.

My purpose of this letter is merely to give you a heads up as to what exactly you have voted for here in going with your gut rather than your rational mind. To my mind, you have sided with unvarnished stupidity and hatred.

You've chosen a man who applied for a demanding job he knew nothing about and had never served in political office. Go back to when you were 16 working your first gig at Carl's Jr. and recall all of the mistakes you made. Now magnify that times 50 million in terms of pressure and difficulty and with the entire world watching. It's on-the-job training with the country serving as your shake machine.

Another thing you did is vote into office a person who flaunts without an ounce of self-awareness or irony the most buffoonish, disgusting trappings of American consumption and conspicuous wealth, a man who believes everything can be made exquisite if encrusted in solid gold. The world's enduring image of America is now Richie Rich.

While you can feel secure in the knowledge that you voted in lock-step with the evangelical community, it seems the purportedly devout have profoundly lowered their standards in backing a xenophobic, homophobic, misogynistic, racist, fear-mongering, hate-spewing serial violator of women. But hey, nobody's perfect, right?

The thing is, you too knew all of this stuff and voted for Trump anyway. You rationalized it with every fiber of your being. You figured the media had it out for him and did everything it could to make him look bad. Plus, all of those women who accused him of sexual harassment and worse were making it up, weren't they?

Your guy may have said he could grab females by the you-know-where, but come on, can't a guy joke around? Anyone who objected was just being politically correct, which in this case meant overly supportive of diplomacy and decency.

You voted for a guy who promised to build walls rather than bridges and launch immigration squads to cleanse the United States of imaginary Muslim terrorists. Because there are already too many foreigners here anyhow, right? And they're taking our jobs, dammit!

So let's again just be clear about what you've elected: A middle-school bully with no respect for humanity or tolerance for anyone who isn't white. You chose to conveniently, willfully ignore — or perhaps applaud — Trump's belief that it's virtuous to use loopholes to avoid paying taxes and even more righteous to entirely shield your returns from public view.

Your choice for president was transparent in his embrace of a fascist dictator named Vladimir Putin and supportive of Putin's influence on the election through hacking and leaks. And here is another news flash: If you're working class, your hero has no use for you. In fact, he thinks you're a sucker.

You know what you've done? You've rolled the dice and endangered all of the social progress we've made in this country over the past 50 years. Congratulations.

Sore loser? Oh you bet I'm a sore loser. The sorest loser ever. So let's get a few things straight:

I'm not interested in unifying for the good of the country any more than you were for President Obama.

I don't want to hear your complaints when your revolution flops on arrival, given how you've chosen the worst imaginable man to lead it.

Don't ask me to heal, accept, embrace, reassess or chill. It's you who screwed up. It isn't my responsibility to cushion the blow.

Good luck. We're all going to need it.

On This Election, Donald Trump and Russian Intervention

A Facebook friend of mine and area resident, one Kent Hartland wrote and posted the following on Facebook today. I thought it worth the time and thought.
Image result for trump putin

The CIA says they have clear evidence Russia is hacking into American servers in an attempt to alter the apparent outcome of a presidential election. Twenty states have also reported evidence of Russia attacking servers in an attempt to overthrow state-wide elections for congress. Yet most folks here seem oblivious or complacent.

If Russia assassinated one of our candidates or launched a strike against us to eliminate the person we chose as our leader, we would all be down at the recruiting station to enlist. But that is what they are doing. The 21st century equivalent of a Regime Change. A political assassination.

No matter what your politics, if you claim to be an American, a patriot, then this should be your line in the sand. Do not facilitate, accept, brush aside or look away from what is currently happening.

Russia has launched a cyber attack on America. Our president has promised a proportional response. Russia is warning it's citizens and America of the growing risk of nuclear war.

Nuclear war.

This from CNN:

"It is now clear that the illegal hack of my personal email account was -- just like the other recent, election-related hacks -- the work of the Russian government," John Podesta said in a statement. "This level of meddling by a foreign power can only be aimed at boosting Donald Trump and should send chills down the spine of all Americans, regardless of political party."

Trump has called on Moscow to hack into Clinton's computers, downplayed criticism of Putin's authoritarian tendencies, tried to suggest that Russia hasn't hacked US systems and promoted foreign policy positions that jibe more closely with Moscow's than Washington's. He's relied on aides with ties to Russia and most recently, quoted an incorrect Russian news report to raise questions about Clinton.

"Russia, are you listening?" Trump said from the stage of a rally, calling for a foreign country to interfere in an election, an unprecedented moment in presidential politics.

Trump has taken foreign policy positions that analysts say would please Russia, declaring in March that he would consider pulling the US out of NATO because it's "obsolete." The 28-member organization, founded in 1949 to defend against the Soviet Union, is the core US-Atlantic security mechanism.

Trump campaign advisers have had ties to Russia. Former campaign chairman Paul Manafort lobbied on behalf of Russian-backed Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich. Carter Page, described at one point by the campaign as an informal policy advisor, reportedly had investments in Russian gas company Gazprom and has publicly criticized the US in a speech in Moscow.

A Trump security adviser, Lt. General Mike Flynn, the retired head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, attended a December gala for the the state-backed Russia Today television network, placed two seats away from Putin, according to Politico.

Trump's refusal to release his tax returns makes it impossible to get a full sense of his investments and whether he has any in Russia, but he does have business ties to Russians.

Trump has also written about trying to build a Trump property in Moscow since 1987 in his book "The Art of the Deal," signing his most recent deal to build in Moscow in 2013, according to the Washington Post.

The Republican candidate worked with Russian oligarchs to stage the Miss Universe pageant to Moscow in 2013. And his son Trump Jr told a real estate investment conference in 2008 that "Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets," adding that they "see a lot of money pouring in from Russia."

"I've been there many times, I've spent quite a bit of time in Moscow looking at deals," Trump Jr. said.

---

If Russia doesn't want Clinton or the Democrats in power and DOES want Trump and the GOP in, that should tell you who to vote for.

Stand. Take a strong and immediate stand against these attacks. Russia cannot see a divided America, where some of the citizens are cool with Russia literally trying to overrule our choices for elected officials.

Back to me:

I don't think this, he, is overstating the situations. Seems like good to great food for thought.

Additionally, this story broke yesterday.

I hope this is all only fascinating.
