Busy, Busy Election Day

Yes, Mr. and Mrs. America, it is one busy, nearly crazy election day. Thank goodness it's finally, finally here.

First things first. I loved this bit of good, hopeful news this morning, early.

The Finance 202: The stock market is betting on a Biden victory

Stock market investors believe Joe Biden is going to win the presidency, and they’re betting with their portfolios.

Markets rally as traders bet on clear Biden win

Music to my ears. Beauty to my eyes.

The markets and traders, like all the rest of us out here--well, except Trump's contingent of followers, anyway--want, long for clear, intelligent, steady leadership again. It's been a long, long 3-1/2 years without it out here in this ugly wilderness.

They also think, as everyone else educated and aware does and would, that we need informed, calm, steady leadership on and in this pandemic, of course.

This came out yesterday, too. Yet more Republicans bailing on this President.

"Four former communications directors at the Republican National Committee (RNC) voted against President Trump this year, they said Monday."

Yet more Republicans that can no way support this President and who are, instead, voting Biden. Yahoo.

Then check this out.

Once again, no other President in the history of our nation has ever, ever done or had to do anything remotely like this.  Insane.

And then there's this. Yet more insanity from the Orange Man.

Honestly, he really is a pitiful excuse for a person, for a man, an adult, a human.

Of course, we can't assume anything. All that positive stuff is just hopeful on my and a lot of us out here that Trump loses, of course.

Things I hope for today.
  • That we flip Florida
  • And Texas
  • And Arizona
  • And the entire Senate
  • That Lindsey Graham gets his walking papers
  • Along with Susan Collins
  • And Moscow Mitch (doubtful but possible so I hope)
  • That the news media will be able to and does, of course, announce a projected win of Biden for President TONIGHT
All that, at least.

And so much more maybe.

Honestly.

Here's hoping.

Think happy thoughts.

Unfortunately, Kansas City is getting some bad national press today thanks, no doubt, to some Right Wing idiots in the area.

Who can even say or even guess what this ignorance is about?

Middle Age Riot @middleageriot·

Donald Trump says facts are fake, science is a hoax, votes are illegal, windmills cause cancer, Obama is from Kenya, Russia is our friend, and the coronavirus is over, but we're supposed to take his word that if we give him four more years he’ll fix all the problems he’s caused.

Let's do this, folks. Get out there and vote. And VOTE BLUE.

Quote of the Day -- Election Day Version

“My dear friends: Your vote is precious, almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have to create a more perfect union.”

–- Representative John Lewis, a 2012 speech in Charlotte, North Carolina

On This November Election Coming Up?

Let's be clear.  What needs to happen. What needs to happen to this man, to his political party and FOR our nation.

Yoder and Kansas GOP Set For a Fall?

There is a terrific, even hopeful article out this week at The Hill and it has potentially good to great information on Kansas’ House seat.

Check it out:

Sharice Davids, Kevin Yoder

Kevin Yoder (KS-03)

Yoder is the only member of Kansas's all-Republican congressional delegation seeking reelection in a district won by Clinton in 2016.

What's more, the state's 3rd District includes Kansas City and its surrounding suburbs, making it a prime target for Democrats this year.

Yoder faces a challenge from Democrat Sharice Davids, who, if elected, would be one of the first Native-American women in Congress.

Recent public polls show Davids with a solid lead in the race. A survey released late last month by Emerson College put her ahead of Yoder by 12 points, and The Cook Political Report has for over a month kept the race in the "Lean Democratic" column.

At the same time, the NRCC has drastically scaled back its financial support for Yoder - a sign that the GOP House campaign arm may be losing confidence in his prospects.

I love it, of course.

Take nothing for granted, folks. Get out there this Tuesday and VOTE.

And VOTE BLUE!!

Eight Years Ago Today

Eight years ago today, one Barack Hussein Obama was elected into office, the highest office in the nation and the most powerful office in the world.

How many times do I have to tell you?

The wit, wisdom and insight of  H. L. Mencken:

Giving every man a vote has no more made men wise and free than Christianity has made them good.

Still, that said, you gotta' go vote today, folks.

Get out there and vote!

The wit, wisdom and insight of  H. L. Mencken:

Democracy is also a form of worship. It is the worship of Jackals by Jackasses.

Get out there and vote, y'all!

Election Day--get out and vote today, people (please?)

Yes, this is the requisite blog entry pointing out that it's election day and imploring you to go to the polls and vote. I'll also add one more thing---vote no on proposition C. We need health care reform, people, even in this form. Our health care system isn't working and doesn't work well for all of us. This gets us closer to having it work. Now, get out there, have a great day and above all, keep cool.

Barack Obama here in Kansas City

I just shot this, this evening at the Barack Obama rally here in Kansas City. It was a great turnout. We know there were 100,000 people who gathered in St. Louis this morning for him. We hope to find out tomorrow that as many or nearly that many were there tonight. There was great energy in it all. It was a fairly brief speech but that was okay. We only just wanted to be there, all of us, and hear him speak.

This lady was very nice, and very nice to let me take her picture. She said she was, as the sign says, a "Latina Mama for Obama", literally. She also wanted to be sure I knew that the t-shirt she was wearing had been her husband's. He had very recently died, she said, so she wanted to be sure to wear it for him and his memory. I got the strong sense she felt he was there, with her, because of it and their time together, I'm sure.

On to November!
