It's our choice, America

Educate 'em or incarcerate 'em:

It's our choice.

And to date, we're doing too much of the far more expensive, wasteful and even immoral and stupid incarceration.

2nd "Most Redneck City"? That hurts

Holy cow.

I would have thought we were bad, sure, and I think "redneck" permeates lots and lots of America but Kansas City, 2nd most redneck city in the nation?

The website Movoto ranks Kansas City as only the 2nd worst most redneck city in the nation.

What they have to say about us:

2. Kansas City, MO:

City Hall in Kansas City, MO, where the rednecks meet to make important legislative decisions. Just kidding--rednecks don't have laws!

The top 10?
  1. Atlanta, GA
  2. Kansas City, MO
  3. Oklahoma City, OK
  4. Nashville, TN
  5. Tulsa, OK
  6. Fort Worth, TX
  7. Arlington, TX
  8. Sacramento, CA
  9. Cleveland, OH
  10. Mesa, AZ

Seriously, this hurts.

If there's any silver lining to this big cloud, it's that we weren't on this list of theirs:

Where Fashion Dies: The 10 Worst Dressed Cities

But still, this one seems worst of all.

Ow.

Yet people voted for him anyway

"George W. Bush is lucky to be Governor of Texas. He is unusually incurious, abnormally unintelligent, amazingly inarticulate, fantastically uncultured, extraordinarily uneducated, and apparently quite proud of all of these things." -Christopher Hitchens, October 31, 2000. Proof positive of what modern-day marketing can do for a person.

Quote of the day--on the "haves" and "have nots"

One percent of the nation owns a third of the wealth.  The rest of the wealth is distributed in such a way as to turn those in the 99 percent against one another;  small property owners against the propertyless, black against white, native-born against foreign-born, intellectuals and professionals against the uneducated and unskilled.  These groups have resented one another and warred against one another with such vehemence and violence as to obscure their common position as sharers of leftovers in a very wealthy country.  --Howard Zinn, "A People's History of the United States
