Has Donald Trump Lost His Mind?

Seriously, has Donald J Trump lost his mind? The reason I ask:

Trump bizarrely claims to be the only one who likes cucumbers in self-centred Georgia senate rally speech

What took place--

Donald Trump claimed that he is the only one who likes cucumbers during a rambling speech in Georgia ahead of January’s runoff Senate elections.

In a bizarre 90-minute speech in Valdosta, Georgia, on Saturday evening, the US president attacked officials who certified the state for Joe Biden and falsely claimed that there had been widespread voter fraud.

However, during the speech, which was his first since losing 3 November’s election to Mr Biden, he also made a bizarre claim about cucumbers.

After segueing between various topics, Mr Trump told the crowd at the rally: “Blueberries, peppers, squash and cucumbers. Who does cucumbers around here?”

He added, as the crowd cheered: “Because I like cucumbers. I’m the only one. I like cucumbers.”

I say again, seriously, honestly, legitimately, has Donald Trump lost his mind? No President I've ever read about or followed had ramblings like this, like his, like these.

Republicans----this is your best? This is your best man? This is the best you've got?

It's a wonder we made it these last 4 years with and behind this guy.

More from his Georgia rally, too.

The Republicans are threatening--yet again--to take the nation to the brink of bankruptcy, all to "prove a point." (Click on picture for better viewing).
It didn't work for them--or the nation, certainly--last time.

It likely won't this time, either.

Here's hoping for some sanity, reason and logic from that group this time.

Long, hot Summer?

A friend wrote this today on his Facebook page. I had written something similar to it some time back:

"I feel it in my gut it's gonna be a hot summer, with occupy protests , crime, an ugly election cycle, possible world economic turmoil, tears, laughter , presidente, guiness, musica, bad rap blasting, good hip hop, great movies, commercial crap, hot sex, beaches, fun nights...and hot days and hurricanes....prepare for the ride..."

Here's hoping for sanity.

Lots of sanity.

And reason.

A seasonal riddle

A sane Republican politician, a conservative Republican politician, and Santa Claus jump off a cliff. Who hits the ground first? The conservative Republican politician, because there's no such thing as a sane Republican politician or Santa Claus.

War and Peace

I'm a major proponent of the idea that the arts are the antithesis of war. Not a new idea but an important and good one.

With that thought in mind, I think it's important to point out that the more arts and exposure to the arts we can get (along with education, frankly), the less likely, I believe, we would take it upon ourselves to fight and go to war.

It was Lenin, I believe, who said there was a piece of music that, if he heard it too much, couldn't go to war.

I propose, then, that "Improv Everywhere" is to peace and sanity and cooperation what terrorists blowing themselves up, seemingly randomly, is to war, carnage and insanity.

So for today, for the Saturday, I present this video from the Improv Everywhere people, whom I respect and admire. We need more of this in our lives and in the world.

Enjoy and have a great weekend.

Insane imbalances

I've been convinced that some of the worst things humankind ever did involved creating the nuclear bomb--of course--the automobile and the television, not necessarily in that order.

These things have created a great deal of our problems--the nuclear blast, pollution, I can't even think of what TV has done to us but it hasn't been good.

But I recently came across what I think is one of the number one things humankind has created that has caused so many problems and unfairness and inequality over time.

Ironically, I learned of the formal name for it on my first ocean cruise, last March. While on this cruise, I read a bit of a book about Central America and what had happened to it. It was then and there I learned the term and siituation.

Mankind's "downfall", if we can call it that here, is is "the monopolization of land."

It's the monopolization of land that inflicts the huge, gross inequality between "have" and "have not" people and groups.

Think of it.

Abotiginal groups--be it in Australia or in the United States with the indigenous, native Americans (that term doesn't seem appropriate, frankly), all functioned as one people, all utilizing what they had and all of virtually equal material status.

Very natural. Very fair. Very equal.

Then, the white, "New world" people came in to whatever area they were occupying, be it Australia or some portion of America or wherever, and divided areas up into "yours" vs. "mine".

Instead of all sharing all the resources, it was divided up into people's individual interests, resulting in some with a great deal of resources and wealth and others with less, little or not much at all.

Later, then, this could and did feed into the corporation and its ability to own items and people and productivity, distorting wealth even further.

This is the way you create people with outrageous amounts of wealth (google images of the Cote d'Azur) vs. poverty, starvation and other degradations of imbalance and unfairness.

It has been happening down through humankind's time. It's happening now in Nigeria, with their new discoveries of oil, for instance.

Most people, sadly, won't understand what I'm even saying here.

The land and earth should be and should have been for all of us--not just some small, self-selected few, be they some "royalty" or oil firm or what- or whomever.

Food, clothing, healthcare and a good, basic, healthy way of living should be for all of us, not just some small few.
