Obama haters aren't going to like this

Check this out: "President Barack Obama is still the world's most respected leader, according to a new six-country poll." Beat that. It goes on: "Released today by France 24 and Radio France Internationale, the Harris Interactive Poll asked 6,135 adults between the ages of 16 and 64 who live in the United States, Britain, France, Italy, Germany or Spain to name their favorite world leaders. Seventy-seven percent of those surveyed chose Obama, which is one percentage point higher than when Harris Interactive asked the same question in November. Close on his heels is the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, who was mentioned by 75 percent of those polled. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton came in third at 62 percent, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel was mentioned by 54 percent of respondents, good enough for fourth place." Just saying. Have a great weekend, y'all.

Let's not let Gaddafi off the hook this time

News out today:
He’s teased ceasefire promises before, but this time Gaddafi may be serious. The Libyan leader’s spokesman has outlined a deal that would pull all of the country’s troops from cities where they’re laying siege to rebels—on the condition that NATO drops its still-intensifying bombing campaign. “The pressure on the Gaddafi regime has increased,” Hillary Clinton told Katie Couric on Thursday. Indeed, the despot’s wife and daughter have fled the country, and NATO crippled the capital’s seaport late Thursday with airstrikes.

No, let's be clear on this to Gaddafi and the world--this time, after bombing and killing the citizens of his own country, the only way out is down.  He's got to cede power and turn himself in.
Anything else would be an absurd mockery of justice and anything approaching what's "right".

It would be one thing if he attacked another neighboring country and killed people.  Then this might be in question.  But he's been killing his own people, in his pathetic attempt to hold on to power.

Gaddafi needs to go.

And then he needs to be tried before a war crimes tribunal.

Holy cow! I'd hope so!

When I saw this headline this afternoon, my first reaction was just to guffaw in laughter:

Clinton rules out U.S. Syria involvement

My second reaction was to think that there is virtually no way anyone would allow anything remotely close to this right now.  Short of a direct attack on us right now, there's almost nothing and no one and no where that could get us to attack one more site on this planet, over-extended as we are.

Enjoy your Sunday, y'all.

Watch out for Kim Jong Il

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced further sanctions against North Korea, to punish them "to halt North Korea’s proliferation of weapons of mass destruction along with other 'illicit activities that helped fund their weapons programs.'” This on top of the fact that, next week, "The United States and South Korea announced Tuesday that the first in a series of large-scale naval exercises off Japan and the Korean Peninsula would begin next week, despite objections from China." Watch for it: Kim Jong Il is going to "go off" and start saber-rattling, at minimum. Let's hope that's as bad as it's going to get.
