I got to thinking about it a couple hours later and, like you, I thought, hmmm, maybe this isn't enough reason, either. After all, they're just going to say he was here, blah, blah, blah.
That said, I think it's just totally an ego thing--"seeing yourself" on TV, you know? "Gosh! There he is! There he is!"
